"Camping, guys? Are we sure this is something that our group is cut out to do?" Shane asked with a groan, running his hand through his wild mop of reddish brown hair as he sat looking out the window at Ryland's parents' home. Shane had visited his fiancee's hometown many times, and while he had to admit that Aurora, Colorado was a beautiful place, Shane was raised in Los Angeles, and he was a city boy at heart. He didn't even like going outside at his own house to hang out on the covered patio or to go to the beach in Malibu near their house. Colorado was so "outdoorsy," and whenever Ryland and Morgan came home to their home state, they suddenly became outdoorsy too.
"Honestly, Morgan, I'm kind of shocked that you'd be up for camping," Andrew said. "No offense, Morg, but like, I never see you hanging out outside in L.A.," the red-head teased, and Morgan rolled her eyes. "It's something about L.A. that makes me lazy and homebody-ish. I swear, I'm usually into hiking, exercising, and being outdoors, but in L.A., I turn into someone who wants to hang out indoors wearing sweats and eating Cheeze-its," she whined, and Y/N giggled a bit. "Are you sure that's not just hanging out with Shane that does that to you?" the pretty sandy-haired girl said to Morgan with a shrug.
Y/N was Andrew's girlfriend of about a year. Y/N had a YouTube channel where she baked and cooked, and Ryland had met her when they did a collab on his channel where she taught him to bake cupcakes from scratch. Andrew had filmed the collab and the chemistry between the two was so obvious that Ryland got her number right then and there, giving it to Andrew after Y/N left and forcing him to text her. He did, and she was excited to hear from him. They started chatting, which led to dates, which led to the two of them being completely inseparable. They'd been exclusively dating for the entire year, and Andrew was happier than he'd ever been in his life. Y/N was beautiful, kind-hearted and a natural caretaker, baking and cooking for the Squad, checking on Andrew constantly to ensure he was taking care of himself, and showering him with the kind of affection that he truly needed in a partner, making him feel more secure than he'd ever felt in a relationship.
When Ryland and Morgan had invited Andrew and Y/N to their house in Aurora, Y/N was flattered to be included, feeling as though she was officially part of Shane's dysfunctional little family, but she had to admit that camping hadn't been on her radar. The beautiful sandy-haired YouTuber was born and raised in Manhattan, growing up in a high-rise apartment building on the Upper West Side, and while she liked to hike and go to the beach since she'd become an L.A. resident, she definitely wasn't sure about sleeping in a tent in the mountains of Colorado. She looked at Shane with furrowed brows, and the hilarious YouTuber immediately noticed her hesitation.
"Y/N doesn't want to camp either, guys," Shane said with a wave of his hands. "She's a city girl too. Maybe we'll stay here and hang out with Vicki and drink wine and watch Real Housewives," Shane exclaimed, referring to Ryland's mom. Y/N shook her head, looking from Ryland and Morgan to Andrew. She didn't want to complain, and she desperately wanted to spend time with her red-headed man, not used to him taking off time from working with Shane just to relax. She didn't want to be difficult, but she had to admit Shane's plan sounded more fun to her.
"What do you think, Y/N, can you rough it?" Andrew asked his girl softly, holding onto her arm as he leaned in and kissed her gently on her forehead. She looked up into his big brown eyes, and he looked at her hopefully. She immediately smiled. Her adorable boyfriend could get her to do literally anything, his chocolatey brown eyes shining, his megawatt smile brightening the entire room. She was so smitten with Andrew, and she always felt safe and secure around him, so she figured camping with him wouldn't be so bad.
Andrew loved the outdoors, craving fresh air and exercise. Working with Shane had turned him into a complete couch potato, but before he'd started working as Shane's videographer, he'd spent his time as a teenager playing basketball and competing on his high school swim team. He regularly hiked the Canyon around his house and loved to surf and play golf. Camping sounded great to him, as he hadn't done it since he had gone with his college friends several years back, but he knew Y/N was a little uncertain. "Baby, it will be fun. I promise, I'll keep all the wild animals from you," he told her with a small giggle, and she smiled as he wrapped his big long arms around her tiny waist. "OK, I'm in," she said quietly, and Morgan and Ryland cheered, looking triumphantly at Shane as he groaned.
