"Y/N, let me just hold that please," Andrew said with an exasperated grin. "You look like you're about to fall over," he added, shooting his [h/c]ed girlfriend a playful grin as she shook her head, struggling a little with her enormous suitcase. "I'm fine, Andrew, I'm not helpless," she said with a sigh and he shook his head. "True, I know you're not. But that bag weighs twice as much as you. How many times do you plan on changing clothes during this week anyway?" the redhead asked pointedly.

The two were rushing through Chicago O'Hare Airport on the way to visit Andrew's parents Kaye and Lance and his 16 year old sister Hallie. Y/N had been dating Andrew for two years, and she'd met his mom and dad once before when they'd come to Los Angeles to visit Andrew and help him move from the Hollywood Hills apartment he shared with his friend Ricky to his current townhouse he'd bought himself in nearby Westwood. Y/N had never been to Illinois with her man, though, and this was the first time they'd spent Christmas together. Y/N was a mixture of nerves and excitement as her ginger boyfriend led her through the airport and into the waiting Uber he'd called to take them the hour outside of Chicago to his hometown of Algonquin, Illinois.

"Baby, I have to make sure I have the appropriate clothes for the cold," Y/N said with a sassy roll of her eyes, and Andrew couldn't help but grin at how adorable his girl was. She'd only seen snow once in her life, on a ski trip she and Andrew had gone on with Andrew's friends Sarah and EJ in Mammoth. Y/N had grown up about an hour from L.A. in Laguna Beach, and she was the classic California girl. Andrew couldn't wait to see his beautiful beach-loving girl experience her first Illinois Christmas.

"Don't worry, beautiful, I'll keep you warm," Andrew said, shooting Y/N an impish grin as he slipped his arm around her waist while they sat in the back of the Uber. Y/N giggled a little, always finding it so precious when Andrew flirted with her. No matter how long they were together, the adorable redhead could always make Y/N's heart flutter. She leaned in, planting a soft kiss on his cheek, and then she looked out the window with interest, taking it all in as they zipped along the freeway. Y/N watched intently as the driver pulled into an adorable gated community filled with rows of manicured houses. The car pulled up to a two-story brick and stucco house with a basketball hoop in the driveway and a cute Christmas wreath on the door, and Andrew gave Y/N a little squeeze as the Uber came to a halt.

He hadn't brought a girlfriend to his hometown since college, and he felt a mix of excitement and terror as he opened the car door and held out his hand to help Y/N climb out of the car. Y/N was by far the most important person in Andrew's life, and he'd never before felt even remotely as strongly about anyone as he did about her. He wanted so badly for Y/N to fit in well with his family and to be comfortable at his house for the holidays, and while he felt pretty confident that she'd do just fine, given how sweet and easygoing she was, he was still nervous about the week and how it would all go.

He grabbed Y/N's suitcase and his out of the trunk of the Uber, thanking the driver and rolling both bags down the front walkway, Y/N following closely behind him. He pushed the front door open and called out "Guys, we're here," in his trademark soft spoken voice, and in the blink of an eye, his mother and father both appeared from the kitchen, sporting matching Christmas sweaters and matching broad grins.

"Andrew! Y/N! You're here!" Andrew's mom Kaye shrieked, her chocolatey brown eyes sparkling as she threw her arms around her only son's neck, hugging him tight and covering his face with kisses as he cackled nervously. "Hey Mom," he said quietly, and Kaye grinned. "Hello my sweetheart!" she yelled, and Andrew's cheeks tinted pink at his mother's obvious gushing over him as he glanced back at Y/N. He shook his head slightly as he saw her smiling widely, tears pricking in her pretty eyes. She was such a softy, and Andrew thought it was funny how emotional she got over his reunion with his family.
