"Come on, Y/N, we have to go! We still have to go to the grocery store and grab the alcohol before we get to Shane's!" Morgan yelled up the stairs to her roommate Y/N as they got ready to head out to Shane and Ryland's house for a pool day. The girls had been looking forward to having a pool party at the boys' house all winter long, eagerly awaiting the first day where it would be warm enough to go. Ever since Y/N moved to Los Angeles from Colorado to live with her high school best friend Morgan, the two had been living it up like they were still in high school. Y/N was shocked when Morgan told her the guys rarely used the pool at the enormous mansion in Calabasas, and Y/N was intent on changing that now that she had been inducted to the "squad."
Y/N and Morgan had been best friends since they were in kindergarten, and the two had always been inseparable. Y/N moved to Arizona to attend college while Morgan was in Hawaii, and then Morgan moved to L.A. to start YouTube. Y/N had no interest in the YouTube lifestyle, but she was looking for something new to do so Morgan convinced her to move to L.A. the previous year, and she immediately moved in with her best friend and started to work as a personal trainer at a gym in Hollywood. Ever since she'd moved to town, Morgan had become noticeably happier, relieved to have a true female friend with her after all the negative experiences she'd had with L.A. girls. Y/N didn't care about Instagram follower count, sub lists or getting invites to Hollywood parties. She was a breath of fresh air, and Morgan was thrilled to have her old friend with her.
The rest of the squad was equally enamored with the beautiful dark-haired girl from Colorado. Ryland saw her as another little sister, and he loved how loyal she was to Morgan. Shane thought she was a blast, and they had the same silly sense of humor and kind, giving spirit. Garrett adored the girl as well, and he loved goofing off with Y/N and Morgan, the three of them like a walking comedy show when they got together. She had definitely become a full-fledged squad member and everyone was enjoying having another girl around.
And then there was Andrew. There was something about Y/N that made him feel all tingly and warm inside. It could have been how free-spirited she was, the complete opposite of his nervous, shy energy. It could have been how un-pretentious she was, unbothered by the Hollywood drama and clout chasing. She was drop-dead gorgeous, and he definitely took notice, but there was something else, a wild spirit in her that made him both nervous and excited at the same time. He had never met a girl who was so completely "her," comfortable in her own skin, quick to make fun of herself and say whatever was on her mind. He felt his heart race and his palms sweat every time he was near her, and for the first few months that she lived in L.A., he was sure she thought he was the biggest geek on the planet, as he stumbled over his words and stammered to get out a simple hello to her. However, as the months went by, he started to relax around her and he got more comfortable. He definitely didn't have the easy brother-sister friendship with her that Garrett and Shane had developed, but as he got less nervous around her, he started to flirt with her more and more. He had no idea if it would ever go anywhere, as he was still nervous to make a move, but he hoped it might. And he found their constant back and forth banter adding much-needed excitement to his routine life.
Y/N thought Andrew was adorable. He was five years older than her and completely opposite of her outgoing, carefree personality, but she found him completely irresistible. Although she was really humble, the truth was that she'd always been attracted to alpha males, the kind of guys who would pursue her hard, and she wasn't ever one to go after a guy herself, used to them going after her. Andrew was different, though. He was so shy, quiet and introverted, yet she felt a spark with him. There was something about him, and she couldn't help but think that deep down, underneath the nervous exterior, there had to be a more free-spirited side just waiting to come out. As he had started to relax around her and flirt with her more, she was becoming more and more attracted to him, and she wanted him to ask her out so badly that she could almost taste it. She never told anyone about her feelings for him except for Morgan, but to be honest, Morgan knew both Y/N and Andrew so well that she didn't need to be told. Every time she was around her two friends, she could feel the electricity between them, and Morgan was sure they'd make a great couple if they'd just stop beating around the bush and get together.
