It was the hottest day of the year, so naturally it was the day Ryland chose to film a new decorating video for his channel, entitled "Renovating Andrew's Guest Room (Emotional)." It had long been an idea in his clever mind, given that it combined two of the most popular elements of his ever-growing channel: 1) anything involving Ryland decorating and 2) anything involving Andrew. Try as the handsome red-headed cameraman might, he could never manage to avoid making appearances on Ryland's channel (or Morgan's or Garrett's). Logistically, it was because he was always around at Shane's, hanging out with the squad as they filmed and vlogged their days. But the real reason was because of views. Every time one of the three featured a glimpse of the adorable ginger videographer on their channel, views went up astronomically. Andrew was a fan favorite, and because the Shane fans could never get enough of the cameraman's very brief appearances in those videos, they often found themselves tuning into the other three's to see their favorite red-head in longer form. Ryland, more than anyone, was a direct beneficiary of this phenomenon, and he was always scheming new ways to feature his pal on video.

Ever since Ryland had done the first decorating video on the panic room, he'd considered re-doing the guest room where Andrew often stayed. When he and Shane first moved into the enormous house in Calabasas, the room was generally shared between Andrew and Morgan, whichever of the two needing to stay over claiming it as a temporary place for the night. But with the Jeffree/Beauty series taking over Shane and Andrew's lives and with Morgan moving to a new apartment, the room had pretty much become Andrew's domain, with Ryland even encouraging him to move more clothes into the dressers and closet rather than continue to pack his bags. Morgan no longer stayed over, and when she did, she slept in the beauty room. If it were up to Shane, Andrew would have moved permanently into the house, seeing it as a waste of their time for him to drive back and forth from his apartment. He had even mentioned it to Andrew, who was very hesitant to make the move official, worried that he would intrude on Shane and Ryland's privacy. Andrew always worried that him being at the house all the time annoyed Ryland, and he was constantly telling Shane as much. Shane would brush it off as ridiculous, and what the ginger man didn't know was that Ryland adored him. Having dated Shane before he hired Andrew, Ryland knew that a Shane with Andrew around as his confidant and work partner was a better romantic partner, easier to live with and easier to love. And so Ryland set out to show Andrew how much he loved the idea of him moving in by redecorating the bland guest room he called "home."

Making this renovation project all the more appealing was the addition of Y/N to the squad. Andrew had started dating the beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed kindergarten teacher about six months ago, when they were introduced by Andrew's friend Matt, who lived next door to the pretty teacher. The relationship was going great, and Andrew wanted to spend every free minute he had with his beautiful girlfriend. The trouble was he didn't have many free minutes, and when he did have them, he ended up spending a lot of the time driving in circles between Shane's house, his own Hollywood Hills apartment and Y/N's place. And so Ryland and Shane started encouraging Andrew to have Y/N stay with him at their house. Selfishly, they liked having the adorable girl around. She was sweet, fun and made Andrew infinitely happy, and because she had the summers off, she was down to hang with Ryland any time the boys were working. Ryland figured making the guest room look top-notch would encourage Andrew to bring Y/N around more, and maybe he'd see that him moving in would be a perfect solution.

Ryland had sent a message to the group text letting everyone know that while the reno project was originally supposed to be a "surprise" for Andrew, he would actually need their help on the project. So that day, everyone assembled to the house, ready to paint, take out shelves and move furniture around so that Ryland could beautify the room. Andrew and Y/N showed up early at the house in their grubbiest clothes to help Ryland, with Morgan and Garrett following, a little less enthusiastic but afraid of Ryland's wrath if they didn't help. With Ryland directing the group, they got to work on moving out furniture and ripping out shelves, doing more demo than he had ever done on any other project. Morgan and Y/N taped up the walls to paint everything while Garrett and Andrew hauled out the heavy stuff, Shane complaining and huffing along the entire time everyone worked. As much as he wanted Andrew to move in, he didn't get why Ryland couldn't just hire someone to do the reno. But Ryland insisted on DIYing the project.
