Hello my loves :)

1 Month Later

I rub my eyes with a tired yawn as my feet lazily carry me through the doors of the recording studio. Almost immediately, I feel a coffee being slid into my hand, making me hum appreciatively before I start to practically inhale the iced drink.

"Thanks," My body plops down on the couch and Jo smiles down at me, "Well when I see that you're posting to your Instagram story at 2 in the morning about writing a song, I figured you'd need a coffee for today."

"You read my mind," I smile tiredly, sipping more on the coffee while the other two join us.

"Wake up you lazy sack of crap, we have a song to record." Raven kicks my foot, making me jolt up and clear my throat, shaking the exhaustion from my head...literally. I literally shake my head and force my best smile.

"Right, I'm good, I promise. Just...get in there so we can record the rhythm section," I usher Kat and Raven into the live room so that they can play their parts of the song while Jo and I stay in the control room. I take my seat at the soundboard beside the producer.

I turn on the intercom and smile with a thumbs up, "Alright! First take of 'Fly', from the top, guys."

I turn on the tempo for them and they eye their sheet music, beginning to play in sync with one another. We go through a few takes, I work with the producer, thinking about what parts I want to keep and which can be rerecorded. Jo helps with figuring out if the tempo is working and I mutter along the lyrics I have written down as we go.

This process, just getting the drums and bass tracks down takes a few hours. It's a slower-paced song, with a grunge-feel to it but I need it to be perfect. If there's one thing I'm particular about it's my music. Especially the songs that I write.

We all write songs sometimes, I've written most of the band's songs but I love it when the girls want to record their songs.

It's a group effort, takes a village. I never want them to think I'm some sort of dictator, which sometimes I know I can be a little difficult but I try not to be a dick about it. Jo reassures me I'm not but when I get too stressed, she's always the one to take me out of the room to calm me down.

When Kat and Raven are done, Jo goes in to record her part on guitar and she tackles it almost with ease.

"No fair, how does she always just nail it?"

"No damn idea," I chuckle at Kat's comment and Jo stares at the sheet music, her eyes not moving away from it once while she plays the chords.

That's the thing about Jo Keller. She's always had a gift for sight-reading. She is better than all of us at doing that. Don't get me wrong, Kat, Raven, and I are great at sight-reading, but Jo is the best of all of us. It's incredible watching her doing it, it's nearly perfect just running through it once.

That girl was meant for the stage.

When she finishes, I go in to record the vocals and we work through harmonies on top of it. Kat joins me in some of the vocals to give it more depth.

"Let me hear your voice to bring me down

I'm waiting for your lips to bring me 'round

My life's shame and sorrow falling back

Lead me from my head down underground

Lying down until my soul turned flat

Feel the magic break inside me now
