We eventually made it home.

Had to make a few stops along the way......Audrey thought Nate looked car sick, Nate would shake his head no. I said, I was (Audrey told me to wined down the car window)     I glared at Nate. I wanted to sit in the front.....But noooo! I'm stuck in the back with him!

Audrey and I managed to get Nate to the kitchen.....After the front door was unlocked, I pulled out a chair.    Audrey helped him sit down, Nate smiled up at us.

It had been decided Nate would stay on the couch later that night, Audrey would fix up one of the bedrooms later in the week.

"I vote we have pizza....It's a bit late to start cooking. And, I'm too tried!.."
We all agreed, that was sorted......Audrey went and made the call. Nate definitely wanted pizza.

Nate's Care-Plan was sitting on the table, thought I'd have a look (May as well know what we'd be in for with Nate)

Blah, blah, blah........Medications 4x daily. Food : minced, light diet to start with, NO chewy foods. All Foods/Meals to cover 3/4 basic food groups. No Junk food to be given (This was high-lighted)

It dragged on for four more pages.......Some medication sheets, Instructions sheets (How to care for Nate. Whatever!...)

.......Blah.....Blah!!

"..Well, No pizza for yooou!..."

Nate looked at me from across the table.......And his face dropped.

"..We can use these, the hospital said this was what they had been giving you. They don't look too interesting, but who am I to judge..." Audrey put the containers down.

"Shall we try this one?..."

She held up a round container with brown stuff in it. Nate was shaking his head, sheer annoyance (Big fuck NO)     All over his face, he absolutely hated the hospital food! I even screwed my face up.         (yuk)

He'd had that many fights with the nurses over the meals served.....Most nights they had restrained him, some nights he didn't eat. Shelley sometimes would just give fruit or dessert.

Audrey looked at Nate, she tried to explain as best she could, but.....That's what she'd been told to give.     And, that was final.

"We still have to give these delightful things..."

Audrey held up each bottle (Gritted her teeth).....She really didn't feel sure how the "giving" of medication was going to go - Nate's dinner choices......Had gone down sooo well!

The bell rang.....We all looked towards the door.

I jumped up and answered, Audrey gave Nate a "sorry" look.....And went into the kitchen. Nate crossed his arm over the other one (fuck!...I'm NOT eating that crap!...)

He watched me put the two boxes on the table.....I smiled at him, he glared back. I knew how he was feeling.      The brown-crap in the container, looked revolting!

Ten minutes later.

Audrey placed a plate in front of Nate, with folk and spoon, Nate looked up at her with a pleading look.

"Just try.....It'll be gone in minutes, then we'll do these..."

Pointing to the bottles.

Audrey was trying to be upbeat and positive. But, failing on all fronts. If Nate had still been at the hospital, he would have hurl his dinner across the room and yelled at us. But, supposedly he was now home. Where he had hoped, meals like these would have stopped.
