Maya: (sorridendo) Posso davvero?

Massimo: Questa volta possiamo fare una piccola eccezione.

Little Maya stretches out her hands to Massimo, who helps her get out of from the car seat and carefully places her in his arms, not before telling the driver to slow down the speed of the car to the minimum.
Shortly after Massimo took her in his arms, little Maya fell asleep peacefully, with a big smile on her angelic face.
Massimo POV:
In these moments, a million thoughts and questions pass through my mind.
Less than 24 hours ago I was alive but not really living.
And my greatest wish was that God would have mercy on me and allow me not to see the sunrise of the next day.
I had resigned myself that all I was given to live in the last 5 years is the reward for all the harm and suffering I caused to the people I loved the most in this world.
