You're The Music That's Been Playing In My Head: Book 2

The Dark Owl: Part 1

The school bell rings, and everyone starts to head home. 

"How about we head over to my place and hang out?" Alya offers as we head out, Marinette and I smile, about to agree when Mr. Damocles starts clapping and ushering us out of the school. 

"Come on, hurry up, I don't have all day."

Marinette and I groan.

Seriously again? He's been doing this all week!

"Except we can't, we have to help my parents in the bakery," Mari tells Alya, and she gives us a look of disbelief. 

"Again? You've been helping them all week!" 

We both apologize, and we go our separate ways, quickly going home to drop off our bags before transforming into Ladybug and (s/n).

"Mr. Damocles really needs to stop doing this," I grumble as we meet up with Chat Noir and start our search for Mr. Damocles's hero persona: The Owl. 

For the past few weeks, he's been going around as The Owl imitating us as a hero, but for the past week, he's been going a step further and proceeding into dangerous situations or making a situation more dangerous, forcing us to come to the rescue.

Mr. Damocles is found at the park trying to help Whiskers the cat down from a tree by climbing it. He scares the cat, causing them both to fall. Quickly Chat, and I use our staff/spear to catch the kitty while Ladybug uses her yoyo to grab The Owl. 

"Mr. Dam- Uh...Owl, this is the fifth time this week we've come to your rescue." 

"You're really gonna get hurt one of these days. At least wear a helmet," Ladybug and Chat Noir tell him as we brought him down safely and gave Whiskers to his owners. 

"But you don't wear helmets."

"Mr. Owl, we've told you multiple times already, it's not the same for us. We've got our hero suits and powers to help protect us," I explain, and he nods. 

"I know, but since I was a little boy, I've only ever dreamed of becoming a real superhero." 

At this point, the news and the firemen had arrived.

"The exploits of Ladybug, (s/n), and Chat Noir have inspired some people to become superheroes themselves. But is it a good thing? Let's ask. Today, Ladybug, Chat Noir, and (s/n) have come to the aid of self-proclaimed new superhero The Owl." 

We hear Nadja explain the situation to the camera before directing a question to The Owl.

"Thanks to sound advice from my good friends, Ladybug, Chat Noir, and (s/n), I am certain I will do better next time." 

The three of our eyes widen before we facepalm, giving each other a look as The Owl continued. 

"I will be reviewing my weaponry and engaging in extra training because wherever there are injustices, there's The Owl! Owl Mist!" 

He pulls out a can of flour and starts shaking it, causing everyone around him to close their eyes and cough before watching him run off, almost being hit by a car.

"Any comments, Ladybug? (s/n)? Chat Noir?" 

"You know he's a great guy, but to all the children, you mustn't copy him, ok? It's very dangerous." 

"Ladybug is right, so don't try this at home, ok, kids?" Chat chimes in before I do. 

"It's great that you want to be a hero too, but there are easier, safer ways to help Paris: volunteer at a shelter, or help plant trees. Even a small action can help a lot."

With that, we take off and decide to just go ahead and do this afternoon's patrol. Once done, we sit on a roof and discuss what we were gonna do about Mr. Damocles. 

"Mr. Damocles has a good heart, but this is bound to end badly," Chat starts the conversation, LB letting out a long yawn.

"We can't spend our entire time watching out for him either. It's turning into a full-time job." 

"Maybe we could scare him or something to help convince him to stop being a hero," I suggest, and Ladybug quickly shakes her head no. 

"And shatter the poor man's dream? No way! On the contrary, maybe we should help him make his dream come true. He said all he wanted was to be a hero even if it was just for one day."
