Chapter Nine: Marauders Map

The Marauders sat in the great hall finishing up their charm's homework, before the owls arrived with the morning post.

"What's the answer to number ten?" Sirius asked, dipping his quill into the ink pot.

"Umm..." Remus said, looking through his charms book.

"Owls are here." James said, looking up from his parchment which he disregarded and waited for his owl to drop his parcels.

"Yes, my mum got my letter about the sweets." Peter said, opening his package full of muggle sweets.

"Got any of those Curly wurly's?" Opal asked, looking in the bag.

Peter nodded, handing her a dozen. "I asked my mum to pack a few extra for you."

"Wormtail, you are amazing." she gleamed.

"It's here!" James said excitedly, opening his letter.

"What is it?" Sirius asked eagerly, he was the only one out of all of them to not receive any letters, which didn't bother him seeing as he did not want to hear his mother's voice in a howler so early in the morning.

"Moony and I were in the library-"

"James Potter in the library!"

"Shh, Blaze. We were reading a book-"

"James Potter reading a book!"

"Padfoot, let him finish." Remus snickered.

"Let me start again, while we were there the book said-"

"The book spoke to you?"

"Wormtail!"

Four of them burst out laughing leaving James seething, he crossed his arms angrily. "I'm not telling you now."

"Come on Prongs." Remus nudged him.

"No, I try to do nice things for all of you and then you laugh at me."

"James, you didn't even tell us."

"No but the book told him something." Sirius laughed.

Remus rolled his eyes, "What he was trying to say is that we found a wizard who is also a cartographer, and he sells special paper. So, we had a great idea to buy some and make our own map of Hogwarts, so we don't get lost- well so Peter doesn't get lost."

"Hey... thanks, that will be very helpful."

"Also, this paper is the one that makes it so we can track people in Hogwarts, anyone that enters will be traced on the map. That will help us a lot on full moons, so we won't be running into any teachers or Snivellus." James told them.

"Ahh the man speaks." Sirius grinned, patting him on the back.

James pulled his middle finger up at him.

"Mr Potter!" Opal gasped, imitating Professor McGonagall, before returning to her normal voice. "Please don't use this map to stalk Lily, she is still my friend."

"I'm not going to do that, I literally got it so we can prank the Slytherins." James said, sounding offended. 

Remus picked up Sirius' quill.

"Shall we sign it?"

He got a nod from everyone.

"Ooh we could put in a password so that no one can see any of us on the map." Sirius said.
