Opal decided to lie in that morning. She didn't seem to want to leave her bed. The thought of walking down all of those stairs made her cringe and curl up back into a ball.
The girls had gone downstairs before breakfast had even started, she looked towards the clock, it was almost time for the owl post and first lessons.
She should probably start getting ready, but before she'd even lifted the cover she heard a tap on the window, an owl was hovering holding a bunch of flowers. She let the bird in, reading the note.
I know I should have told you.
I'm sorry I didn't, I got you these as an apology.
Love Sirius,
PS: don't tell Sprout I raided her greenhouse.
Opal let out a small chuckle as she grabbed a vase from Marlene's bedside table filling it up with water. She then got ready for the day, making her way down to the common room where Sirius had been sitting by the sofa waiting for her.
She decided to walk past him, not giving him a second look.
"Did you get my flowers?" He followed her.
"I got them."
"Did you like them?"
"They were okay."
"Are you going to talk to me?"
"Not really."
"Opal?"
Nothing.
He let out a sigh. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"I know, I read the note." Opal said, as she climbed out of the common room.
"So... how long are you going to be mad at me?"
She shrugged, continuing on.
"How long?"
"I don't know, maybe as long as it took for me to find out you're in the Order-"
"Come on, I didn't tell you because I knew you'd act like this."
"At least it's reasonable." she told him.
"I don't know how many times you want me to tell you I'm sorry."
She paused. "A million times."
"That's impossible."
"Well then that's the end of this discussion." she pushed past him.
Sirius pulled her arm, turning her to face him.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"
"Sirius-"
He ignored her. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"
"Stop it-"
"I'm sorry-"
"Okay! I accept your apology."
"You do?"
Opal rolled her eyes. "I'm more mad at my parents for making you lie to me."
"If it makes you feel any better, we haven't actually done anything yet, and we've only gone to like two meetings," he told her.
"It's still annoying you didn't tell me."
He gave her a nod. "I know."
"Don't hide stuff from me, I know I can be a bit... you know. But once you tell me I'll be fine, my parents on the other hand, I'm not going to talk to them for a long time."
"I think it's pretty hard to avoid your dad, We have defence first thing tomorrow."
"Don't underestimate me, I can avoid people so much they won't even know I'm avoiding them."
"You avoid me?"
"No, you're too persistent to avoid."
"Awwh, thank you. Shall we go and get breakfast?"
Opal nodded as they walked down the corridor, she noticed a few students whispering to one another and looking at her as she passed them but she brushed it off. But as they entered the Great Hall she was ambushed in a hug.
"James! I'm still angry at you-" she pulled away from him, pausing as she saw tears in his eyes. "What's wrong?"
"You don't know?"
She glanced around the hall, everyone was staring at her.
Professor McGonagall ran at a hurried pace, pulling her aside. "Miss Wings... there's been a terrible accident."
