For a moment she forgot about everything.

She forgot about the crowd.

She forgot Duncan was commentating.

She forgot James was on the pitch.

She forgot Sirius Black is her best friend.

The cheers died down, turning to mutters.

"Is that... Opal Wings and Sirius Black?" Duncan said.

Opal opened her eyes staring into Sirius' shocked ones, she pulled her head back removing her lips from his. She widened her eyes, feeling her face burning up.

"I- I'm sorry." she said, turning around on her broom speeding back towards the castle, when she got to the Great entrance she flung the broom on the ground.

YOU KISSED HIM! YOU BLOODY IDIOT!

The sick feeling that had just about gone had come back only this time it was worse, she heard students arriving back to the castle, wanting to avoid them she pulled open a door closing it behind her.

IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE SCHOOL!

She sat down on the stairs, rubbing her face in frustration.

The door opened, Sirius poked his head through the door.

"Opal?"

"Leave me alone." Opal stood up facing him, he didn't leave. "I didn't mean to kiss you I just got-"

She was cut off, he walked towards her pressing his lips on hers, he held her close until he pulled away, looking at every inch of her face.

"Your hair has gone pink."

"I don't think I can change it back." she breathed out, not looking away from him.

He tucked her hair aside smiling. "I can't believe you just kissed me in front of everyone."

She closed her eyes, cringing slightly. "I didn't mean to, I just got caught up, the kiss at the ball and then- wait... Did you know it was me at the ball?"

Sirius stayed silent then nodded, letting out a deep breath. "Yeah, I saw you walk down the stairs with Duncan, you looked beautiful and I wanted to talk to you but I couldn't pluck up the courage so... I danced with you instead... and then sort of... ran away when I got the chance."

Opal didn't speak, she stared at him for a few moments trying to read his face.

"I- I've liked you for a while, since... third year, I just never told you... or anyone for that matter." Sirius said, scratching his head.

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Why didn't you?"

"I was afraid... afraid that if I told you then it would ruin our friendship, I didn't want us to stop being friends because of a crush," he said. "That's why I flirted with so many other girls... one of the reasons was to stop feeling things for you and the other was to see if you had any reaction, if you got jealous then maybe I would have been able to tell you."

Opal blinked, she was half expecting the Marauders to run in laughing saying that it was a prank. But Sirius didn't have a trace of humour on his face.

"That's why I asked Andrea in front of you, I thought you might have some sort of reaction, but you didn't. Then I felt stupid for having these feelings-"

Opal cut him off by kissing him again, this time they both held on to each other, she ran her fingers through his hair as he pushed her lightly against the wall.

"You're not stupid." she said when they let go of the kiss, he smiled at her letting out a deep breath, he felt a wave of relief pass through his body.

"James won't be happy."

Opal shook her head. "I agree with that."

"It's fine, we're Marauders. We can work something out." he said, cupping her face. "Who would have thought it eh, us two?"

"Sirius and Opal."

The star and the gem.
