Sirius was very good at ignoring people he didn't want to speak to. Opal had seen it first hand and she never thought she would ever be on that end of the stick ever again, but two weeks after their first argument, he hadn't even tried talking to her.She waited for him after all of his classes, all of his Quidditch practices but he ignored her, either walking straight past her or talking to whomever he had decided to latch onto when he saw that she was waiting for him.
Today was the last day she was going to try. After that she was done. She wasn't going to wait for him to grow up.
She packed up her things from the library, he should be finishing Ancient Runes in ten minutes, and she had to make her way all the way up to the sixth floor from the library.
"You're trying again?" Dorcas asked.
"Last time, if he doesn't say anything then we're done, I'm not running after him anymore." She sighed.
"Do you want us to come with you?" Marlene asked, she had taken her head off of Dorcas's shoulder giving her a supportive smile.
"No, I'll be fine."
"We'll take a detour to the kitchens and get all the ice cream we can if anything bad happens- which it won't but-" Dorcas said quickly.
Opal smiled. "I like sticky toffee pudding flavour,"
"Sticky toffee pudding it is," Marlene grinned.
Opal pressed her lips into a smile, "See you later."
She put her bag around her shoulder and headed out of the library up to the staircases.
When she arrived at the classroom the students piled out. She caught eyes with him but he turned away quickly, grabbing the person's attention next to him.
Opal's heart sank as he walked straight past her, making a joke with the classmate.
"Sirius?" she called out weakly, but he just projected his laugh. "Sirius! I need to talk to you."
He paused, turning around, finally looking at her for the first time in weeks. "We don't have anything to talk about,"
Opal swallowed hard, she struggled hard with the next part of her sentence. "Then that's it. I'm not chasing after you anymore."
"You can do whatever you like, Opal, I really don't care."
That hurt.
That hurt a lot.
"Fine then." she said, beginning to walk away.
She prayed so hard as she turned round the corridor that he would chase after her, telling her he was stupid but he didn't. She waited, she didn't know how long for. But when it got dark and the candles lit the corridor she knew it was over.
She made her way back to the common room, barely muttering the password to enter, she didn't look around. She didn't want to see him. So she made her way up to her dorm with the girls.
All four of them looked at her hopeful but Opal shook her head. She let the tears fall when Dorcas ran at her with a hug.
"It's okay, you don't need him," She told her, holding her as Opal cried.
"I didn't mean what I said, it was stupid-"
"Shhh, shhh, it wasn't stupid." Lily shook her head, "He's just going through a lot of stuff right now."
"I know I just... I didn't think we'd actually... break up," Opal sniffed, wiping the tears with her sleeve.
"Don't worry, match is on Saturday, I'll aim a bludger at his head," Marlene said.
