"Alright team, our match with Hufflepuff is less than a week away, we need to keep the same level of performance we've been doing during training, Benjy and Marls you need to make sure the bludger doesn't hit Glenda, if we lose our keeper then we've basically lost." Opal said as the team landed back on the pitch after their training. "Nasreen you're going to have to be quicker with your pace following the snitch."
"I can always help, my homework is done for the week so I can give her some extra training." James said.
Nasreen nodded. "Yeah, that would help a lot actually."
The team made their way back to the common room for the evening, they saw the girls, Remus and Peter sitting on the sofas.
"I can't believe I failed this test!" Lily moaned looking at her mock DADA marks.
"Lils, you got a hundred and sixteen out of a hundred and seventeen." Mary said, looking over her shoulder.
"Well done, Lily, I got the same marks." James said.
"Ugh, I'm as stupid as Potter." she muttered.
James looked at her, his face slumped into a frown, he then looked at the Marauders. "I'm heading up for an early night."
"You sure?" Opal asked, glancing at the clock, it was only eight.
"Yeah, you're a tough captain and I am tired." he said, stretching his arms out and yawning.
"Weak." Sirius laughed.
"Shut up, Black." James said, walking up the stairs to the boys dorm.
"Bit harsh, Lils." Mary spoke up.
"What?" Lily asked, folding up her exam.
"He was only being nice." Dorcas said.
"Or his usual arrogant self."
"He just said you got the same grades." Mary said. "That's hardly arrogant."
Lily shrugged. "I'm sure his ego is big enough to get over it."
Opal walked away from the group and up to the boys dorm, she found James already in his pyjamas laying on his bed, reading a Quidditch magazine.
"You good?" she asked.
James nodded, his lips pressed together as he did. "Fine... oh and I'm stupid."
Opal sighed, sitting on the end of his bed. "You're not stupid, James."
"Other people think so-"
"One person, and she doesn't think you're stupid. She's just used to you pestering her, and she's become defensive when you talk to her- even normal conversation."
James put the magazine down on his lap. "I wasn't that bad was I?"
Opal scratched the back of her neck, "A little, you just didn't know when to stop and it obviously annoyed her."
"I didn't mean to."
"I know. But you're a changed man and soon she'll get used to that and maybe she'll have a proper conversation with you one day."
James shook his head. "Nah, she wouldn't."
Opal smiled softly, changing the subject. "What about you and Nasreen, you're giving her extra lessons." she nudged him slightly.
"Yeah, just to help us win."
Opal nodded her head, smiling. "Yeah, just for us to win."
James curled his lips into a smile.
