31st December 1975, 23:49
It was almost midnight, the majority of the students had come back to Hogwarts, Opal was currently hiding in the girls dorm.
"Opal, what are you doing, they're about to do the countdown." Lily said, walking into the dorm.
"It's about to start." Opal replied, pouring a potion into four glass vials.
"What is about to start-" Lily then sighed. "You're still doing this?"
The Annual January Prank War, the month where the Marauders turned against each other, last year James had won ten points ahead, but this time Opal was determined to win.
"Yes, and I am almost done. What time is it?"
"Almost midnight."
"I need specifics, Lils."
"Eleven fifty two." Lily said, looking at her watch.
"Great now, the boys usually drink butterbeer when the clock strikes midnight." Opal said, handing Lily two vials.
"Nope, nope, nope." Lily said, wafting her arms away. "I am not going to be an accomplice."
"Oh come on! James is going to be with Sirius, all you do is go up to them and he will say 'Hey Evans, blah blah blah." then all you have to do is pour the potion into their drinks and then boom, all I will need to worry about is Peter and Remus." Opal said, giving her puppy dog eyes.
Lily rolled her eyes, holding her hand out. "Give it to me. What exactly do they do."
"If all goes to plan, you will see in four minutes. Each of them are in fact different. Let's go, let's go." Opal said, walking down the stairs, she pushed Lily into the direction of James and Sirius. Opal looked around the common room, setting eyes on Peter who was sitting by the window holding a bottle of butterbeer.
"Hey Pete."
"You alright Opal?"
"Mars looks bright tonight." she replied, looking up at the sky.
"It does?" he asked, looking out the window, Opal quickly undid the lid of the vial and poured the potion in.
"TWO MINUTES!" Gideon shouted across the common room, holding up a Happy new year: 1976 banner.
"Shit, have you seen Remus?"
"He's over by the radio with Marlene and Benjy."
Lily gave her a thumbs up, she'd successfully put the potion in James and Sirius' cups. Opal looked towards Remus, he wasn't alone. But she noticed none of them had drinks.
"Yes." she whispered, walking over to the drinks table to pick them up butterbeers, she poured the last vial into one of the butterbeers.
