12th February 1980
Usually Sapphire would wake Sirius and Opal up, her feeding cry carried out across the room. They would decide who would feed her with a game of rock, paper, scissors, where Opal had found a trick that would make sure she would win.
But that morning she woke up to see Sapphire wasn't in her cot, she furrowed her brows walking out into the living room where Remus was holding her whilst humming a muggle tune.
"Morning," he said, cheerfully.
"Morning," she said, walking towards them, Sapphire was trying to grasp onto Remus' jumper but her grip wasn't strong enough.
"She was crying when I got in this morning so I thought I would give you two a little lie in,"
"I've said it before and I'll say it again, "You really are my knight in shining armour," she laughed, sitting down on the sofa, he sat beside her. "She wouldn't stop crying after Pete left last night, for a solid three hours, couldn't get her to stop then I realised I could just morph into him."
"It took you three hours to realise?"
"Shush Moony, I was sleep deprived-" Opal was cut off as she picked up one of Sapphire's teddies but instead it flew from her hands and snuggled up under Sapphire's arms.
Remus and Opal looked at one another in shock.
"Did she just?"
"Accidental magic?" Remus said, trying to move the teddy but it didn't budge. "Very coordinated accidental magic."
"I can't believe she just did that."
"What's happened?" Sirius asked, his eyes small and tired as he sat down next to Opal.
"She just did her first accidental magic-"
"No! I missed it! What did she do?" he asked, a look of disappointment across his face.
"Made this teddy go under her arm," Remus replied, pointing at it.
Sirius leant over proudly. "Look at our little Saph, already doing magic."
Opal smiled, before going back to her room and getting ready for the day, once she was done she got Sapphire ready.
"Where are you off to?" Sirius asked, as she put her cloak on, then wrapped Sapphire in her baby carrier.
"St Mungo's, I think it's time for Saph to meet her aunt," Opal told him. "I haven't seen Amethyst for a while."
He nodded as she walked over to the fireplace grabbing a handful of floo powder.
"Opes," he said, before she left. "Happy Birthday,"
"Thanks, Sirius," she said, before the bright green flames engulfed her.
She stepped out to a busy looking reception area, Auror's questioning healers and visitors. One Opal didn't recognised stopped her from going any further. "Name?" he asked, looking down at his board sheet.
"Opal Wings,"
"And what is the purpose of your visit to St Mungo's?"
"I'm visiting my sister, Amethyst Wings- what's going on, may I ask?" Opal asked, she had never been stopped and questioned at the hospital.
"It's alright Winslow, I'll take it from here," Alastor Moody said, his stump making loud bangs with each step. Winslow nodded then walked towards another wizard who had just floo'd in.
"What's happened?" Opal asked, once again.
Alastor, eyed her carefully before speaking. "A healer, Neil Kingston, was murdered early this morning."
