Opal spent the majority of her days at St Mungo's, this day in particular she had spent it entirely with Amethyst, the two had played chess, it was one of the only things Amethyst was able to do without much help.

She hadn't realised she didn't have enough time to see her father, but she sprinted up to his ward to try and sneak in but she wasn't that lucky.

"Opal, visiting times ended half an hour ago." Eunice Olivers told her.

"Please, I was with Amethyst, I didn't get a chance to see him today." Opal pleaded as she stood in the doorway.

"Ten minutes, and don't let Nurse Laurier see you." she told her picking up a tray, she paused before turning back around. "Have you been at the hospital all day?"

"Uhh," Opal began to hesitate as she nodded. "I don't really want to be stuck at home all day, everyone keeps asking me how I am and I just can't deal with the questions right now, and I also feel like I'm intruding, no matter what Effie says."

Eunice pressed her lips into a sympathetic smile. "Have you ever thought about becoming a healer?"

She shrugged. "I've taken healer classes at Hogwarts but I'm not sure if I'm good enough."

"I've been looking for an apprentice, you can shadow me on Monday, it will keep your mind and yourself busy, and if there's any news about your father or sister you're welcome to go to them."

Opal looked up at her. "You're not really looking for an apprentice are you?"

"You need structure. You don't need to be moping around all summer, that'll do you no good. Think about it and if you like the idea, meet me here, nine o'clock on Monday."

As she walked through Potter manor she heard chatter from the living room, as she entered their voices slowly faded.

"Everything okay?" she asked, noticing the boys weren't looking at her.

Sirius hesitated.

"What's happened?"

"It's Dorcas- well her aunt, Lucille, she was running for Minister for Magic this election." Peter spoke up. "She was attacked last night."

"Is her aunt okay?" Her heart dropped when she didn't get a response. "I have to go see her."

"Opal-" Sirius started, taking a hold of her arm.

"She can't be alone-"

"She's not alone, she's got her family-"

"I need to make sure she's okay-"

"Opes, you've only just got here-" James started.

"I need to-"

"Opal, this is ridiculous," Remus said, an annoyed look on his face, she stared at him. "You need to start thinking of yourself, you're never home, you're always thinking of others, you need to rest."

"I can't just stop." she swallowed hard. "Every time I have a bit of peace I think about how I lost my entire family in one night. If I do nothing it will drive me crazy! I have to go and see Dorcas and I have to check if she's okay, so I'm going. Okay?"

Remus back down nodding, Sirius held her hand, lightly squeezing. "We'll come with you."

She took a deep breath, wiping the remaining tears off her face and they left.
