31st July 1980
Lily's screams echoed through the hospital, James had woken up from his concussion at the exact time she went into labour, he had been by her side since.
Sirius handed Opal a cup of tea but refused to look at her, making his way back to his seat in between Marlene and Remus on the other side of the waiting room.
"What happened between you two?" Peter asked, sitting down next to her, wincing as Lily screamed continuously.
"I told him," she said, picking at her sleeve. "About the spell."
"Ah," Peter nodded. "I take it he didn't like that very much,"
Opal looked at him. "What do you think? I should have told him, I shouldn't have kept it from him. And now he won't even look at me."
Peter patted her shoulder, giving her a tilted smile. "You know Sirius cares about you so much. And if anything happened to you I'd dread to think what he would do." he said, "So you keeping this from him hurt him."
Opal blew out a sigh. "I know. I just- I knew he wouldn't like it- and I knew that it was wrong of me to do it but I- I want to believe that the spell will work, I want to see..." she didn't finish her sentence.
"Opes, you know that he wants that for you too. He knows what you want but it's when you're keeping it a secret from him, that's why he's mad." Peter told her.
She gave him a pressed smile. "You're a good friend, you know that."
He grinned brightly. "I know."
The door burst open and James ran out wearing a bandage around his head, a healer ran out after him telling him to calm down before he passed out but he ignored them. "I HAVE A LITTLE BOY! THE FIRST MEMBER OF THE POTTER QUIDDITCH TEAM IS HERE!" he yelled at the top of his lungs.
The group hugged him and congratulated him.
"Come on, come and meet him!" James said, pushing them all into the room.
"Great, just what I need after pushing out a baby ten seconds ago," Lily said, trying to look angry but there was nothing but joy on her face, she held the little baby boy by her chest, giving them all a look.
"Oh he's beautiful." Mary chorused.
Opal looked over at Sirius who had a smile on his face but it was wiped completely when he caught her eyes.
"Lils and I were talking about godparents and even though you two didn't make me Sapphie's we thought that you-" James started but was cut short when he saw both Opal and Sirius separated, he furrowed his brow, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, James. Congrats." Sirius said, nodding. "I'm going to go get some air. There's too many people." he said, leaving the room.
James looked towards his best friend for an explanation but she just looked away.
"I'll go talk to him," he said, following Sirius into the waiting room.
Lily looked at her with a soft look but Opal shook her head, "Thought of any names?" she said, getting the subject off herself.
Lily sighed. "Well James wanted to call him Fleamont but I don't think I could actually do that to my child,"
Opal chuckled. "Yeah, I think Uncle Monty would have agreed with you,"
"Peter is a very nice name, I would like to add,"
"As is Dorcas,"
"Possibly Mary?"
"I'm not naming him after any of you," Lily laughed, shaking her head.
"That's a shame, he looks more like an Opal."
"Nah, a Marlene, I would say, he's got the brow structure."
"If I was to name him after any of you it would be Remus."
"Yes!" Remus laughed, raising a fist into the air.
"That's not fair, he get's boyfriend privilege." Opal complained as Remus rolled his eyes.
"It was eight hours!"
"Still."
"I only said that because he is the only one who didn't suggest his own name," Lily told them , looking back down at her new born.
James opened the door. "Opes," he nodded his head for her to follow him.
She followed James to where Sirius was waiting.
"We'll be in there when you're ready," James told them, closing the door behind him.
She stood in front of Sirius, both of them attempted to speak at the same time.
"You go first," he gestured.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not telling you." she said, looking up at him. "I know I should have told you I was just scared of your reaction."
Sirius sighed slightly, he took a hold of her hand. "Opal, I love you so much and if anything happened to you I would be completely destroyed." he swallowed hard. "I hate that we live in this world. A world where I'm worried about you every single second of the day. A world where I am scared that you won't come home one day, or I won't come home or something happens to someone we love."
"I know," she whispered, softly as he cupped her cheek.
"I don't want our daughter to grow up without either of us. I want us to watch her grow up into a young beautiful woman and she is going to be as tough and as stubborn, just like her mother-"
"Her father more like."
He breathed out a laugh and agreed. "I just- I want in, okay. I want you to tell me what you're doing. This spell... if you think it will work then... It's fine. Just I want to know, okay. I'll help you with whatever you need, just promise me you won't keep any more secrets, please."
"I promise," she said, resting his head on his chest, he kissed the top of her head then released. "Should we go back inside?" he nodded towards the door.
She nodded.
"I'm pretty sure James was about to make us godparents," he mentioned.
"If they die that means two kids to look after,"
Sirius scoffed. "It's James and Lily, they're never gonna die." he wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they entered the room again.
James looked up at them and smiled brightly. "Lovely, now you two are back together I can continue what I was saying earlier," he cleared his throat to make an announcement. "Even though the two of you didn't make me Sapphie's godfather, I am willing to forgive and forget and make you two our little man's godparents,"
Both Sirius and Opal began to hesitate, watching James' smile fade.
"Of course we will, Prongs!" Sirius grinned excitedly.
"Our little godson," Opal cooed looking down, his eyes opened slightly to reveal the same bright green she had known for ten years.
Lily's eyes.
"Whilst you two were talking we chose a name for him." Lily said, looking up at them.
"Spoilers, it's not Peter."
"Say hello to Harry James Potter," James said, his smile shining from ear to ear.
"Hello, Harry." Opal said, stroking his cheek. "It's a beautiful name for a little handsome boy."
"Nice one, James."
