"Hey, you've reached Opal-""-Sirius-"
"-Remus-"
"And baby Sapphire, please leave a message after the beep."
...
"When is it again?"
"SIRIUS!"
BEEP!
13th November 1979
With the news of little baby Sapphire, she had received a plethora of gifts. Including a knitted dark blue blanket with a golden 'S' stitched into it, an entire Chudley Cannons kit from Dorcas and Marlene, muggle toys from Mary and a broomstick from James.
"James, she's two weeks old," Opal shook her head when he brought it round before an Order meeting.
"We're teaching her early, our little Saph here is going to be the best chaser, better than that Oliver Wood- never tell Aoife I said that. She will murder me."
"Can someone remind James that Saph is my child and not his-"
"She is our child, Pads-" James grinned. "You should have known that I would be involved with raising you- our child,"
"Wait til you have a kid."
James shook his head. "Not until Lily is thirty-" he mocked his wife.
"I heard that!" she called out from the hallway, she walked into the living room. "Right, we better get off, the meeting starts at five."
A moment later they were at Potter manor.
"Ahhhh! There she is! My little goddaughter!" Dorcas shouted, running towards them. "Oh, look at her!"
"Stop hogging her Cas," Marlene shook her head. "I actually want to hold her this time,"
Opal let out a chuckle, "You will all get a chance to hold her," she sniffed the air. "Did someone make brownies?"
"Yes, Mary did, they are so good," Dorcas told her, "You better hurry though, Benjy's almost finished them.
"I've only had three, Meadowes- ooh, Sapphire!" he said, walking over to them.
"I'm starting to get a little jealous of how much attention she's getting," Sirius whispered to Opal.
"That's because she doesn't annoy me like you do," Benjy said, shaking his head. "She'll be in the same year as my son."
"Son? You have a son?" Opal asked, her brows furrowing.
"Well after my heart was torn in two-"
"We broke up mutually," Marlene rolled her eyes as he spoke.
Benjy pulled out a folded picture from his wallet passing it around, they cooed at the small baby, he had a small tuft of dark curly hair, "His mother doesn't know about the war,"
They nodded understandably. It was safer for muggles to not know about the war raging on.
"So, does he have a name?"
"Dean. Dean Thomas,"

"I am never going to get tired of this," Sirius said, he was laid next to Opal, holding Sapphire as she slept on his chest.
"You're going to be real upset when she gets older,"
"Nah, she's gonna be a daddy's girl through and through." Sirius said.
"Thanks a lot, I guess," Opal rolled her eyes.
"Fine, she'll be a parents girl then,"
Opal grinned. "Thank you, much better. Let me go warm up her milk."
She walked into the kitchen, grabbing the milk she had prepared earlier, but before she could heat it up she heard a loud crack. She stuck her head out the door. "James?" she said, about to scold him for apparting in the house, but his eyes were red and puffy. "What's wrong?" She asked with concern.
"It's mum and dad." he said, his voice broken. "They're- they-"
Opal's eyes began to tear up, as she shook her head.
James couldn't finish his words, but she knew what it meant.
Earlier that week Fleamont had caught Dragon Pox, but it had taken a turn for the worse due to old age, and he passed it to Euphemia who was already under the weather.
The Dragon Pox had taken both of them.

The joint funeral had several hundred guests, it would have reached thousands if there wasn't a war.
James hadn't left his room in days, he refused to speak to anyone, even Lily.
"I don't know what to do," she confided in Opal. "I've tried everything,"
"Let me talk to him," Opal said, she left Sapphire with her and made her way upstairs, knocking lightly on the door.
There wasn't an answer but she pushed open anyway.
"James?" she spoke softly, she opened the curtains, letting the light in.
She saw him sitting in his chair, facing the window, his glasses had been left askew on the desk, his hair was usually messy but it had started sticking out more than normal.
She sat down next to him, wrapping her arm around him.
"I don't know what to do, Opes," he said, after a short silence.
"You don't have to do anything yet," she told him.
"I never really knew how much this would hurt, I knew it was coming but-" He began, wiping his eyes. "I just didn't know I would lose both of them at the same time,"
Opal tilted her head down, knowing that she had also gone through the same as he had two years prior.
"I'm sorry I know you lost-"
She shook her head quickly. "James, you just lost your parents, please don't think about me."
"I keep expecting mum to walk through the door," he said. "This morning I swore I could smell the pancakes she used to make," he told her. "I practically jumped out of bed and ran into the kitchen, Lils thought I was crazy."
Opal smiled sympathetically. "I once woke up to the smell of burning toast and I thought it was my dad failing to make toast like usual, turns out it was just Pete,"
James let out a chuckle. "What are we going to do?"
"Well, you're going to have a shower, because... I don't wanna know how long it's been-"
"Please, you should have seen you when you were going through this little depressive spiral,"
"And how many times did you tell me to shower?"
"Fair enough," James nodded, he stood up, letting out a stretch.
"Better?"
"Nope,"
"Yeah, I don't know what to tell you?"
"Does it get better?"
Opal gave him a wince. "Sure, bud."
"Thanks Opes, very supportive as usual."
"I can't help it."
