31st October 1980

Opal awoke to Sirius singing softly in French, she squinted her eyes open watching as he rocked their daughter. She smiled softly, placing a hand on his arm.

"Morning," he whispered.

"Morning," she said, lifting up. "What were you singing?"

"Oh it was... it was something my mother used to sing to Reg and I when we were younger." he said, looking down at Sapphire.

"Your mother?" Opal questioned.

"Yeah, this was before she hated us." he told her, pressing his lips into a smile. "I can't believe she's one today."

"I know," Opal said softly, she leant over so she could see Sapphire better.

She stirred around, opening her eyes, at first her face was filled with confusion then she smiled as she recognised Sirius.

"Pongs!"

Sirius shook his head, "No Saph, Dadda?"

"Mama!"

"Yes that's right, my little gem," Opal grinned, ticking her stomach making her giggle even more.

"Sapphire," Sirius gloomed.

"Sa-Sah-" she concentrated but she couldn't say it.

"Haha, you can't even say your own name,"

"She can't say your name either,"

"She'll say it- or she can say Padfoot. Sapphie, say Padfoot!"

"Pa-Pa-"

Sirius gasped, excitedly. "That's right! You can say it. Padfoot!"

"Pa- Pa- Pongs!"

Sirius sighed, looking back at Opal. "I want a refund."

Opal let out a chuckle. "Give her some more time, she's only one."

He rolled his eyes, "What's the plan for today?"

"Well, I was gonna make some pancakes for the birthday girl, then we're gonna decorate the living room for the party."

Sirius nodded, "Oh, I invited Andy and Dora, that's my family sorted."

"Well, I've invited Ruby, that's all my family- I don't really want Amethyst to show up so I didn't send an invitation."

"Very wise decision."

"Pa-cakes?" Sapphire said, happily.

"Oh, so you can say pancakes but not dad?"

Sapphire laughed at him.

"You're so lucky it's your birthday." Sirius said, squeezing her cheeks lightly then bounced her as he stood up.

They went to the kitchen and Opal proceeded to make the batter for the pancakes with her wand, Sirius sat their daughter down in her highchair then began cutting up strawberries and banana's.

"Morning," Remus walked in making a b-line for the kettle, grabbing the coffee jar from the side, his hair looked worse than James on a good day. After he made his coffee he ruffed Sapphire's hair before opening the daily prophet and letting out a large yawn.

"Morning, Moons. We're making pancakes, would you like some?" Sirius asked.

"Do we have any–"

"Nutella is in the top cupboard, Sirius can you get it,"

He nodded, taking the jar off the top shelf along with the maple syrup and jams.

"Rough night?" Opal asked Remus as he yawned again.
