CHAPTER 38

The elders always pushed him to do more and learn more so that he would grow stronger and leave Yungmeng, far away from madam Yu's jealousy. Jiang Cheng was still little to understand his mother's poison words and he really liked having a cultivation brother a smart as Wei Ying whom he looked up to. He wanted to be like him, as string as him, as clever as he was and likable like he was and that was one thing madam Yu hated the most. She would sometimes punish Wei Ying and told his that his son would never be his shadow that it was disrespectful to outsmart the future clan leader of Lotus Cove.

They took Wei Ying back and called the healer to quickly come help him, the healer came and he told them that he had cracked his fibia and that he needed rest and good food to be well. He didn't want to stay long since madam Yu came into Wei Ying's room to see his injuries. She became so dissapointed that he had no broken bone or spine as she hoped. She shouted at everyone in the room, but she didn't shout at them for not informing her before they called the healer. Truth was...she didn't want anything to do with Wei Ying and anything that was about him she didn't want to be involved in it unless when she felt she was upset about about something and wanted to take her anger out in Wei Ying.

Don't mistaken her meaning to her statement...she wanted to be informed first not because she was then worried but only because she didn't want a healer to be called to heal him. If she was to be called then she would have not allowed the healer to come. Everyone knew she hated Wei Ying for being who he was, and that was, the best than anyone else in Lotus Cove even her son. The EST part was she didn't know who Wei Ying really was, she always fought with his husband for bringing in a stranger who would bring them trouble one day but she didn't know that that stranger was the son of the women she hated the most. That was about to change.

Jiang Yanli went to Wei Ying's room like she always did and bathed him and changed his clothes like she always did when he was beaten by her mother or when his abdominal pain got worse than he managed to hide his pain from everyone, but not Jiang Yanli. She had liked Wei Ying the first time he arrived at Lotus Cove. Her mother had chased Wei Ying out of her home the day he woke up and Jiang Fengmian was out on clan leader's business. Wei Ying had slept for three weeks since the day Jiang Fengmian found him and they hid it from him because they thought he was still young to know many things. He had lost memory of everything important in his life and Jiang Fengmian thought it was a good thing since he would remember about his parents who were killed by evil spirits the day they were supposed to meet in Yungmeng city. That was what Jiang Fengmian was told by his trusted desciples when coming back to look for them.

Jiang Yanli cleaned Wei Ying's room after bathing him and she had brought lotus root with pork rib soul for Wei Ying since it was his favourite. He liked the soup and the person who coked it for him since he always thought that her smile and kindness reminded him of someone he forgot. Jiang Yanli sat Wei Ying down and placed a pillow on his back and started feeding him the soup. He knew Wei Ying slept hungry and she even wanted to look for him and bring him food but her mother denied her and called her a useless daughter. After feeding him the soup she looked at Wei Ying and tears fell down her eyes as she felt empathic to Wei Ying because of his her mother treated him. She heard a noise at the door and she quickly stood up and picked the tray and opened the door, fearing that it was her mother.

She got out if the room and she found that the sound came from two desciples who stood guard outside Wei Ying's room. She looked at them and asked " why are you here, is there anything wrong?" The two desciples looked at each other for a few seconds until one of them spoke. " Jiang gūniàng, we're sorry to disturb you, we just came here to see Wei Wuxian we didn't know you were here" they bowed in respect and they were about to leave when Jiang Yanli stoped them. " I know you guard a'Xian's room every night, I don't know why and I won't ask why since misfortunes always finds a way to him. But please be careful, do not let wô de mûqīn (*my mother*) see you. Zàihuì (*good day*)

She left leaving the confused desciples wondering how she knew they guarding Wei Ying every night. Well...the thing was...the two desciples had already known who Wei Ying was, they were the ones to who rescued Wei Cangse when she ran away from the Jiang clan after being threatened by madam Yu, they were also the ones were instructed to go and bring the desciples who killed Wei Ying's parents and they overheard the assasins talking about it when they thought they were whispering to themselves. They had heard everything and they were helpless since they went to look for Wei Ying but didn't find him a day after his parents were killed. They kept it a secret and even their clan leader knew nothing about it because they were scared to tell him.

Since the day Jiang Fengmian instructed them to bring a carriage and took Wei Ying back, they swore upon themselves that they would protect him unknowingly. They were always doing so and even Wei Ying was oblivious to their intentions. The desciples moved around trying not to bring attention to themselves until their clan leader came back later in the evening did they feel a little relieved. When Jiang Fengmian came back, the first person he asked for was Wei Ying and his children were unable to answer him since their mother was sitting right next to them. They kept quite and that made Jiang Fengmian suspect something, so he asked his wife. " Yú Zîyuān, where is Wei Wuxian? Why isn't he here for his meals?" but madam Yu ignore him and continued eating her dinner. Jiang Fengmian stood up fearing that something bad has to have happened like always when he went to clan leader business.
