Two years later Lan Qiren recieved an letter from Jiang Fengmian saying that he was going to hold the ceremony in which the desciples will receive their spiritual tools for their achievements. This was only done when the desciples have finished their classes and have already trained for swords and other tools to use during cultivation. It was called the gifting ceremony but in our time we could call it a graduation from finishing those who finished their studies and have already done practical work.
In his letter he was explaining how he would be unable to attend the Lan's gifting ceremony since the dates collided with each other. They were to host the gifting ceremony in two days and so was the Gusu Lan clan, he had also mentioned that his son Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying will be participating in the ceremony and he even expressed how grateful he was to have Wei Ying as his adopted son. He praised Wei Ying in his letter telling how he had achieved all his studies and his he flourished in everything he dies and even came on top on his archery class. All in all he did not good but best in everything that was set out for him. He also had written his he wishes the best and success for the Lan's gifting ceremony and their students.
Lan Qiren was so happy to hear the news, he read the letter silently and gave it to Lan Xichen to read it after he had finished reading it. Lan Xichen went to the meditation room where Lan Zhan was playing his uncle's Guqin' and he told Lan Zhan that he had good news to tell. He read the letter out loud for Lan Zhan to hear and when he was done he looked at Lan Zhan and thought he would see a happy and proud young man who was very proud of his soulmate, but instead he saw worry and sadness, so he had to ask " Wanji...are...are you not happy that Wei Ying is doing great in his studies and is excellent is everything he does?" His eyes were foucuses on his brother's expressiond and what he saw after asking was fear...he became so confused but still waited silently and patiently for Lan Zhan to answer him.
Lan Zhan placed his hands in the Guqin' infront of him and avoided his brother's gaze. " Xiongzhang...I am happy for him, I'm also relived that now he will be able to take care if himself, but...but...the time is very near when we have to meet and what if...what if he...he..." " Wanji...why are you worried, tell me, I need to hear it from you, i know you know I already know the answer to that question but I need to hear it from you.." Lan Xichen waited for Lan Zhan to summon up his courage and tell him. " Xiongzhang...what if he still doesn't remember me, us, and the time we spent together...what will I do then..?" " Wanji...if he doesn't remember then you will help him remember...right? You cannot reach where you should if you don't take the first step. You haven't forgotten him even after having such injuries and I think that's a good thing. You owe it to him to make him remember you."
Lan Zhan thought for a while and he realised that his either was telling the truth. There must be a reason for for everything...right...? Without having hope then the things that happen in our lives would be too much for us to even believe in anything. Hope is simply there to comfort us in the bad situations that we face in life, having hope that everything has it's reason and that we are being prepared for a better tomorrow to flourish. That someone or something is out there looking out for us, that God will send his angels to deliver and protect us...right? If it's not for those beliefs we have then I guess it would be difficult to move in after our fails, our bad situations and also many bad things that happen everyday in the world.
We need to have something to hold onto and when we feel like things are being too difficult for us, then we hold in to those beliefs to look forward to another day. Whether it is love, God or Gods, angles, ancestors or even the fir es if the universe are what we pick up our strength from after molding our own thinking and say (everything happens for a reason...I know everything will be alright. Everything in this world has it purpose and mine time to be who I wanna be is right around the corner) that's all. So...it doesn't matter what you believe in, as long as it gets you through the day then that's it.
Lan Zhan confronted his situation as it was, he knew that he wanted Wei Ying by his side and he had to work hard to bring him closer to him, as long as it he doesn't use methods which made Wei Ying uncomfortable. It how was he to know which are comfortable and which are not? He waited patiently and he was not going to do a thing stupid Wich would make him loose Wei Ying again. He had waited so long and for that...he had to follow what Wei Ying says goes. You see...they have separated for a long time, they have now grown up and he didn't know what kind if person he was at his present time, but he knew it would be difficult if Wei Ying had lost his smile because that was one personality that made Lan Zhan head over heals with him years ago, and he missed it.
He had learned of the soul summoning music, in which he was asking about the desciple that came with elder Baoshan Sanren. He asked the spirits but they were all either afraid of him or of the one he was asking about. He continued to ask for a few months and he still got no reply, until a year and a half after that. There was a bright green light that came along after he called the spirits and after all the spirits scartterd...one remained. He was wondering as he looked at it, he saw that it was different. It gave him this sense of warmth and security but it when he asked his questions it didn't respond. He would wait for it to answer but it wouldn't and everytime he called the sprits it came but still never said anything.
