Lan Zhan went to this uncle's house and took a few of his stuff and went to the Jingshi. He didn't have many things and he preferred it that way, he went in and looked around again then lit the sandlewood incense burner while he played his Wangji'. He wanted to finally introduce Wangji together with the green spirit to there new home, finally. He played Wangji for Wangji and the green spirit, not for himself and certainly not for anyone else. The green spirit and Wangji came out and combined each other two in one spirit as they rejoiced their connection, they were like a husband a wife living together in the seven stringed zither and serving their master together for as long as he wished.

Every string he sprang contained their energies and they were no longer individuals, together...they became one, they bacame...Wangji. Wangji played together with Lan Zhan as he rejoiced his only wish at that time being granted, his long time wish to live in his mother's house, Jingshi. Outside, everyone listened as they did their afternoon chores or going about their own business, students who were returning to their dormitories and also those who were exploring Cloud Rescessess were delighted with the melodi that was played. The Lan clan had never heard Lan Zhan play that kind of melody before, and they felt content.
Among the students there was one, who was in the dormitory courtyard together with his shijie and martial brother, he was practicing his sword skills at the time when he heard the melody. He stopped and listened, the melody was enchanting to him, he felt like it was calling him and he didn't know why. He went over to his shijie and sat down beside her and asked her, " shijie...have you ever felt like something in your life was missing? Something very important and an important part of your life, but you do not remember what it is?" The question was sudden and took Jiang Yanli by surprise as she listened, she gasped and asked " A-Xian...do you perhaps remember the melody?"
Wei Ying didn't know how to answer him so he just kept quite and looked down not knowing if he remembered the song or that it made him remember something he longed for. Tears found its way out of his eyes, his heart was aching like it was breaking apart, but the pain was not from the coming apart of his heart, but from the feeling the heart had for it to break. The feeling of missing something and longing to hold someone or something close and never let go overwhelmed him to a point of him breaking down. He cried so hard and so painfully that all Jiang Yanli could do was to comfort him while she herself was crying because of the agony his Dìdì was in. She placed his head on her lap and let him cry.

Jiang Cheng was watching everything from a few feet away from them and he didn't say anything, he felt pity for Wei Ying as he thought that maybe he was missing his parents. He came closer and put his hand in Wei Ying's shoulder and squeezed it, but at that instant, Wei Ying woke his head from Jiang Yanli's lap and Jiang Cheng's hand slid down as Wei Ying sat down and tried to stop the pain he felt, but that was impossible. The thing was, he didn't want Jiang Cheng to touch him. A sudden feeling of betrayal arised the second Jiang Cheng placed his hand on his shoulder. He felt like he was not being fair to someone, like he was not supposed to let anyone touch him accept for his shijie who had practically raised him.
He stood up while crying and looked at his shijie, she didn't know what to do but to allow him do what he felt like doing, she nod to Wei Ying who in turn gave her a painful smile and he ran. He didn't know where his feet were taking him but as long as he would go where his heart would calm down it was ok. His heart was crying and guiding him to where it would feel content and he just let his heart lead him to that place. He didn't know how or why but he found himself in the courtyard of a house which he had never seen since he came to Cloud Rescessess the day before. He stood in the middle of the courtyard and his heart cried more.
His body couldn't move from where he was, but his heart was incharge of everything, his body, mind and soul... It was incharge of everything. He walked slower as he dragged his feet refusing his heart to do as it pleased, he found himself taking hold of the door handle and opening the door. He stood at the open door for a while and he cried even more that he did before, he listened to an unending melody which was playing inside. His heart was beating to hard like it was where it belonged, where it all started and where it would find whatever it was looking for. At that moment,Wei Ying's body felt weak
His body was loosing control too quickly as his heart took over everything, he felt numb and and too weak to stand, until...his knees gave away making Wei Ying plomp to the ground on his knees. He didn't even feel anything, the pain which he was supposed to feel was taken by the numbness of his body, he tried to stand up and leave as he forced his mind to do something. He stood up by holding on to the door frame and it took a lot of effort to do so, when he was finally on his feet his heart led him inside. It led him to the melody, it led him to his biggest missing part of his heart. It led him to his soulmate.
But you see...the melody did lead Wei Ying to his soulmate, but it was all thanks to the collaboration of Wangji and the green spirit who were now one. Wangji was feeling the pain Lan Zhan felt as he played the zither, it felt that Lan Zhan was longing for his soulmate and his missing piece of his existence. The pain Wangji felt when they saw their master shedding tears which fell on the zither strings, made both Wangji spirits so sad. The green spirit knew for whom it's master was crying for, the pain he felt became one with Wangji as the green spirit tried with all her might to call the one her master desired, her son.
