The black smoke dissapeared and he felt that the energies of the spirits were back, but there was something wrong with one spirit.

The spirits in the spirit world still obtained their physical form, that meant that they still looked the same as they did in the mortal realm. This was until they have successfully achieved all the task they were assigned by the Gods, when the Gods saw that their merits were good enough to be passed on to the next level. That level was called the ' 重生Chóngshēng  (*rebirth*). which was the reincarnation path. (Totally made up, no proofreading from here) . Most of the spirits in the spirit realm were already in their last stages of being taken to the 'rebirth' path which was a long road that seemed to have no end. New spirits were then purified to enter the spiritual realm, making it an unending cycle.

The spirits would follow the road and when it reached the end then they would have already found their fated birth parents for their journey of reincarnation to begin.
Some had gone sooner than others and this was because of the tasks that were assigned to them, the bigger the tasks set by the Gods the faster it was to be see the path. If the spirit had not yet fulfilled their tasks then they would not see the path, it was only seen when their good deeds were enough to be reborn and their slate being wiped clean. Meaning all their deeds from their previous lives would be forgiven and to choose the path they wanted for themselves.

Choosing ones path for mortals was not done by the Gods, unless if they were chosen like Lan Zhan and Wei Ying, which meant that each and every step in their lives were calculated and agreed upon by the Gods.
Even so, the Gods did not always carefully monitor Lan Zhan and Wei Ying, they did everything themselves and would only ask guidance from the Gods it needed so. They were born with a purpose for a purpose and with that they were old in spirit even as infants. They had certain paths to take and certain decisions to make at certain times, not always, but they knew and never even once felt to sway off their path. Each and every step they took was a purpose for the greater good as the Gods saw fit.

For mortals... it's was the same but different, meaning, mortals were born free to chose which path they wanted to take. The Gods would intervene sometimes in certain matters but not always, they were given total control of their lives. This was why there were more evil spirits than free spirits, the path chosen by each mortal was totally up to them and if their path was to be the way they didn't want it to be, they would choose which way to go next. If that path is also not the way they thought it would be after changing their first path, the they could change as many times as they saw fit. They would change it until they feel they have done all they could in their lives and needed guidance from the Gods.

But that also didn't come at the time they had wished for it to come, the Gods would sometimes take them back for them to rest and start all over again, whether they have done good or bad it was all the same. The Gods did not take sides nor punish the other for what they have done to the other but only if the one which tormented the lives of others was simply living their lives with the sole purpose of destroying the others and not living their life for themselves. That's when the Gods would punish the evil doer for defying the laws or freedom the Gods have bestowed upon every mortal.

Now here was Lan Zhan looking at the spirit that felt weaker than the weakest spirit, the weakest spirit being the deceased mortal who just came in the spirit realm. He should not see the spirit well but he felt a tug in his heart which meant that that spirit was important to him, he waited for all the spirits to exit the cave and went to assess the spirit which looked like it had been tortured by the two evil spirits he had disintigrated. It looked too weak and when he got closer he saw that the spirit was fading. It's form was weakening and it had no powers left, at this point it was impossible for it to enter the path to be reborn. If would face away like it never existed and forever forgotten.

The spirit was sitting down and facing the Lan Zhan, with its head down and it looked like it was hiding it's face from Lan Zhan and that really got him curious. He walked towards it and crouched inform of it, his heart beating too fast and his breath quivering. He reached out his hand and held it out for the spirit to extend its own, it did extend it but it feared to touch Lan Zhan's hand, it was like it didn't want to touch him because he was powerful but because it didn't want Lan Zhan to feel it's soul fading away into nothingness. At that exact point, that hasitation made Lan Zhan feel that he knows the spirit, then he spoke " come on...stand up"  the spirit still hassitated and he held its hands and helped it stand up.

It stood on it's feet but stills avoided Lan Zhan's gaze and he spoke again " look at me... please.." his breath hitched as he already felt which spirit it was and he dreaded to see it go away from him forever. The spirit looked straight into Lan Zhan's eyes and their eyes contact made a line tear fall from Lan Zhan's eye. This was the green spirit, and it's soul was dying and it pained Lan Zhan to think that he would never see it nor hear from it again. The second year fell from his other eye and from there...it was totally impossible to stop them from free falling from his eyes. The green spirit held out it's other hand and cupped Lan Zhan's cheek and gave him a comforting smile, it indeed was comforting to Lan Zhan, but not at that time.

He cried silently until he felt like he was unable to breath, the green spirit wished it could comfort him but, by that time it was even impossible for it to speak,it was faded until Lan Zhan felt the hand on his cheek feel like just a feather that was placed there. Lan Zhan a d the spirit kept looking at each other until there was nothing left. And the big cave went silent, the sobs were all that was heard and the energy that remained was Lan Zhan's. The green spirit's name was erased from the Book of the living mortals and in the book of the living spirits, it was gone and never to be seen it heard of again. It name existence totally wiped out if existence leaving no trace that it ever existed.
