CHAPTER 64

Wei Ying turned around and left, he wondered why would Jin Zixuan personally give the Inn keeper the token to safe keep it for them, he could've told a desciple to bring it or leave it in the room. He sighed and left the Inn as he remembered that he made a wine sellers wait for him.

Wei Ying didn't know the reality of the situation between his sister and Jin Zixuan, he just thought Jin Zixuan liked his shikie and that his shijie might have an ounce of love for him too.  He did not know about promises that had been made by their parents when they were young. Madam Yu had made it clear to her children and Jiang Fengmian to never disclose their private matters with a servant who will one day take everything from them and even take leadership from his son Jiang Cheng. Wei Ying was treated as a servant by madam Yu and she had also told his son not to call Wei Ying senior because he was a servant.

Jiang Cheng never treated Wei Ying as a servant when they were still young, but as they grew up and saw how Wei Ying surpassed him in everything he started to treat him different than he did before. He would talk harshly with him or say hurtful things to him when he couldn't beat Wei Ying in archery classes or swords skills. He started to compete with Wei Ying in everything, he wanted the best for himself so that Wei Ying could show Wei Ying that he was beneath him. His treatment towards Wei Ying was seen by everyone but they just thought it was because he had a sharp tongue and not really deadly.

He went passed the wine sellers and bought two jars of wine and walked back to Cloud Rescessess after thanking him. He didn't drink the two jars in the way because he wanted to share with Jiang Cheng and prove to him that Gusu emperors smile was indeed the best. He reached the gate after Lan clan sleeping time, it was a little after nine pm and he looked for his people by the side if the fate where he left.  He got so worried when he couldn't find them, he had thought that maybe they were already sent back to Lotus Cove or something. So he decided to walk into Cloud Rescessess and ask around.

He was about to enter the gate when an unseen forced pushed him back, he had hit it hard and the pain he felt started to make him a little tipsy from the wine jar he drank. He stepped forward and touched the unsee force and he saw that there was an invisible barrier that closed the gate. " Oh! So that's why no one is here to guard the gate.." he smirked and stepeed three feet away from the barrier. He stuck his pointy finger and middle finger together and pointed it towards the barrier after enchanting some spells. The barrier opened and he stepped in, he was so happy and proud of himself for breaking the Lan spell. If only he knew that the he wasn't really even near to breaking it.

Once he arrived he found that the gates to the Lan clan compound were closed, he had to get in and find his shijie and Jiang Cheng so he did what he always did best...to get naughty. He climbed over the wall of the gate and when he reached the rooftop of the gate he sat down on the tile roofing to rest. He was tired from his trip and the climbing he just did while holding on to the two jars of wine. He sat down and tried to breath a little when in his peripheral view he saw a white figure. He slowly looked to the side and he got shocked to see Lan Zhan standing there looking at him.

He couldn't figure out if he was already there when he climbed up or if he came after he had sat down. The truth was that when Lan Zhan saw that it was already getting late he got worried, worried that his heart is somewhere Gusu, a place that it wasn't even familiar with. He got frustrated with himself for not thinking about it sooner, it wasn't a big deal to enter Cloud Rescessess. Yes a token was needed to enter but he knew that they came from Jiang clan and were his uncle's desciples and children, but he sent him back when it was almost dark, he got worried.

He went back to the side if the gate to check it he was back, but when he heard that he wasn't he told them to get in. He apologized to Jiang Yanli to have made them wait outside in the coldness and darkness of the night and went to show them their guest quarters. Jiang clan were the first to arrive at Cloud Rescessess so it was easy for Lan Zhan to take them to the furthest guest quarters from the main ones, reason being...well...he had already seen how naughty and loud Wei Ying was by the scene he had caused before he silenced him.

After taking them to rest, Lan Zhan went back to the gate and told the guard that he will be on duty and that he can go and rest. The guard felt like he was walking on top of the clouds since I was the first time the great second master...Lan Zhan to be in guard duty. He went outside the gate and stood on top of the hill and looked down to see if Wei Ying was coming back, he was so worried and be couldn't leave the gate unguarded to go look for him. He went back and set a strong barrier at the gate which would only recognise Wei Ying using his golden core which was connected to Wei Ying's since the day he gave him his core power when they first met as children. The barrier was not to open for anyone else and was only deadly to evil spirits, then he walked back inside.

He reached the courtyard and climbed the stairs to the guarding post on top of the roof next to the gate and waited for him to get back. His golden core sent him a jolt in his heart as it sensed that a breach at the gate by a familiar power. Lan Zhan was relieved because that was a sign that Wei Ying was back. He watched him as he came and tried to peek inside the gate and walk to the side if the wall and climb up, he confirmed his suspicions right that instant, that Wei Ying was indeed naughty. He knew he was going to have his hands full with him as he smiled and shook his head.
