Nicks house.

I stand in the kitchen and quietly watch him as he eats. He would barely look at me and I could tell he was deep in thought about something.

"I'm going to get my agent to try and scrub that picture offline." He says, as he looks down at his plate.

"Okay, good." I reply. I pause for a moment. "Nick, are you mad at me?" I ask.

He waited a moment to answer.

"No, I'm mad at myself." He says, quietly. "I panicked and said you were my brothers girlfriend, and it's fucking killing me right now."

"Is that why you can't look at me?"

His eyes lift up in a heavy manner and he stares me in the eyes, right when there's a knock at the door.

I give him look.

"My brother." He says, giving me a nod in return.

I watch as Joey enters through the front door, he pushes a hand through his hair and lets out a deep breath. He appears to be extremely flustered as well.

He looks at me momentarily and walks to the kitchen table where he sits down and puts his elbows up on the surface, shoving his face into his hands.

"So, I'm assuming he knows?" I ask, Nick.

"Yeah." He replies.

"Yeah, and I have no idea why I always have to be in the middle of this relationship." Joey groans into his hands.

"Maybe it's because you inserted yourself there." Nick says.

"Oh, not this time. That was all you bud." Joey uncovers his eyes and stares at Nick.

"Can we not get into another argument? What's done is done and now we have to figure this out." I tell them.

"Yeah, what's the plan here, Nicky?" Joey asks, in an contemptuous tone.

"I think the plan should be that you both go out a couple times. Make sure that you're seen together and then during off season you'll..." He does finger quotes "Break up during off season."

Joey laughs. "—And then what? During off season you date my girl?"

"That's only if I'm not hired again next season by the Niners." I interject.

"So, if you're hired again you guys just plan to keep hiding the fact that you're together?" Joey stares at me unamused.

"I don't know." I shrug.

"And what the hell do you plan on telling mom and dad about this?" Joey looks at Nick now.

"The truth, what else am I going to tell them?"

"Jesus Christ, Nicky.. this is a shit show." Joey runs his hand through his hair again in an irritated manner.

"You don't think I fucking know that?" Nick answers.
