The next morning.I sigh into Nicks lips as he kisses me good morning.
"I gotta go." I tell him. I had work in a couple hours and after the shit that happened last night.. I wish I could just go home and curl up in bed.
I wrestle back on my clothing and turn to see him still laying there, staring at me.
I stop moving for a moment and examine his face. He looked as if he could cry at any moment..
"Are you, okay?" I ask, softly.
He rubs his hands over his face. "No. Not really, what about you. How are you feeling?" He asks this as he sits up in bed. Flexing nearly every muscle in his body.
"No, I'm not okay, Nick." I tell him truthfully. "—And I'm really, fucking confused."
"Can you stay? Just one more night, please?"
"I can't. The boys have a practice game at five today." I tell him in protest.
He sucks in his bottom lip for a moment. "I really, think you should stay, so we can talk about last night."
I look in his dresser mirror and fix my hair. "No, Nick. This is important. I have to be there." I say, staring back at him in the reflection. Trying my best to be unbothered.
"Well, this is also, pretty fucking important, Lili." He replies, getting up out of bed.
I spin around to face him and he reaches out for my arms, before he lightly, tugs me closer into him.
"I know that." I quietly say. "—And we will definitely, talk about it."
"I don't want you to go." He says, as he dips down his face closer to mine.
"Nick, stop. I have to." I tell him, sternly.
"No you don't." He replies, hovering his lips next to mine.
"Yeah." I say, pushing his chest back. "Yeah, I do." Breaking the contact between us.
"I didn't even get a chance to.."
I cut him off. "—What? Fuck me?" I stare up at him.
"I was going to say explain, but yeah..." His eyes move up and down my body. "Yeah, that too." He swallows.
"I don't know how to feel about all this." I quickly, say in a loud groan. I grab my bag up off his bedroom floor and start to make my way downstairs.
"Hey—Hold on, wait!" He replies, following close behind me. "You can't just say shit like that and then walk away, Lili!" His voice was loud.
I spin back around on my toes. Everything just suddenly pours out of my mouth. "I really, fucking think you need to start taking some accountability, Nick. You walk around acting like you've done nothing wrong!" I could feel the anger in my face.
"—Oh." He stops moving in his tracks. "Oh, so this is what it's about. Me?"
"Well, yeah!" I laugh. "Isn't it always?"
