It had been a couple days now, since I'd seen Nick. I noticed every time I came to work, defense was training on the opposite side of the field. So, I didn't even really get a glimpse of him. This didn't bother me at all, though. He made it very clear what I signed up for and he would text me from time to time still making me feel relevant.Today, I planned on cleaning the office really good. I only had one patient coming in and I knew it was probably going to be a slow, boring day at work.
I head up the side of the field not really paying much attention to what was in front of me because I was looking down at my phone.
I run straight into Greenlaw, he quickly grabs me around the waist and steadies me back on my feet.
"Whoa, girl." He laughs.
"Sorry about that." I join him in laughing at my clumsiness.
"You do that on purpose or something?" He smiles down at me.
"Uh.." I look over and notice Nick and Armstead standing next to him. Nick had his hands on his hips and he was swaying back and fourth, watching us from the corner of his eye through his helmet.
"—No, I just wasn't paying attention." I respond.
"Ah, right. Okay. You know you can just come say hi next time." His smile gets more devious.
I laugh, tensely. "What? I swear, it was an accident."
Nick comes from behind Greenlaw, he was breathing heavily. He lifts his helmet enough to show his face. He looked hot and sweaty.
"What's up?" He breaths, looking at me.
"What's up?" I answer.
"We're trying to do work here." He replies, not very nicely.
It kinda threw me off.
"Damn, bro chill. She's not bothering me. We have a ten minute rest." Greenlaw, says to Nick. "So, what's up, girl? Isn't your name, Lili or something?" He asks me.
"Yeah, Liliana, actually." I tell him.
"That's a nice name, I like it." He says. "We notice you, Liliana, we notice you." He says, playfully.
I watch as Nick paces back and fourth behind him, with clenched fists.
"Um, alright." I say, not really knowing what to actually say to that.
"Aye, let me get your number real quick?" He asks.
"I can't give out my personal number, I'm sorry." I tell him.
"It's for work inquiries." He quickly says, flashing another smile.
"I'm sorry, I can't." I protest.
"Damn, for real?" He argues back.
Nick charges in from behind and grabs him underneath his shoulders pads. "Just leave her the fuck alone, dude." He says, angrily in his face and starts pushing him backwards.
