"I'll walk you up." Nick says, as he pulls outside of my house.

I nod in agreement, and he gets out to walk around to open my car door before I even had time to open it for myself...

I smile up at him sweetly.

"Oh, the fucking chivalry.." Joey, groans seemingly unamused by Nicks gesture.

I turn over my shoulder and look at him for a moment. Examining his face and the bags beneath his eyes, before I struggle standing up in my dress. "I think it's nice." I softly, smile.

"It's very nice, Lili." He promptly corrects his attitude as our eyes lock onto one another. He rubs his tired eyes and then says "Well. Goodnight." Giving me a look of complacent, before getting out of the car, as to what I would have assumed he was switching into the front seat..

Nick takes my hand and leads me to the front door of my home. Where we both awkwardly look back towards the car and still see Joey standing outside and leaning against it.... watching us.

"Can you give us some privacy?" Nick shews him with a look to get back into the car.

"Oh, yeah." Joey complies and gets into the front passenger seat.

Nick snorts quietly. "Fucking, weirdo." He says, shaking his head before turning his attention back to me.

—But my attention was still on Joey, as I watch him lean his head back onto the headrest.

"Hey, um.." I carefully start. "I know you've been going through a lot, but have you like, checked in on him?"

"What do you mean?" His voice deepens and his eyes narrow in on mine.

"Like, is he okay?"

Nick turns his head and quietly grumbles, but I could make out what he had said "Fucking A.."

"What?" I gently say, "He just seems...." I pause to look over at him again. "Sad."

Nick let's out a breath of air. "Weren't we all?" He seemed irritated that I was even bringing Joey up in the first place, and I found that to be completely unfair.

"Are you sad now?" I ask him.

"No.." He breaths out again. "I'm the happiest I've been in a long time." He admits, I could hear the sweet, tenderness in his voice and words. I believed him.

"Well, that's the point..." I hurry to say. "We are happy... he is still sad. Just don't forget about him now that I'm back in the picture, ok?" I try to make him feel any type of empathy, but his eyes desperately tell me he had none for his brother in this moment.

"I'll check on him, ok? —But I'm sure he's fine." He replies.

"Promise?" I hold out my pinky.

Nick hesitates and stares down at my pinky, I swear I could almost hear his heart stop.

"What?" I exhale.

He looks back up at me like he was almost breaking out of a trance. "Um, yeah..." He stutters. "I promise." He says, as he wraps his large pinky around mine.
