"Hello?"

"Hey, where did you go? I'm having a situation at the house and want to make sure your safe." Mark says.

"Oh, well. I'm like.. an hour away right now and I'm safe. What's going on?" I ask him.

"Where are you at?" He sounded concerned.

"Um.." I look over Nicks muscular body as he stretches out more on the couch. "I'm just hanging out with Nick."

"Again?" His voice goes up in tone.

"Yeah, he um.. needed help with something."

"Well, maybe it's actually, better if you stay with him tonight. Do you think you could do that?" Mark says.

"Wait, what's going on?" I ask.

"Oh, it's just Dales dad. He's over here trying to break down the door."

"What?!" I breath. "Mark, you need to call the police." I tell him.

I realized it didn't matter which state I moved to. Drama would always find me.

"No, no. I don't call the police, Liliana." He says as I can hear banging on the door in the background. "It will be fine." He adds.

"Well, I'm still coming home." I say, firmly. I couldn't just let Mark be there by himself with that psychopath outside trying to break in.

"Lili, I'd rather you stay put and be safe." He says.

"What about you?"

"I'll be fine."

"No, I'm coming home." I tell him.

Before he could say anything else I hang up on him.

"Is everything okay?" Nick asks as he stands up from the couch.

"I'm sorry, Nick. I gotta go." I say, pulling my purse frantically, onto my shoulder.

"Why? Liliana.. what's happening?"

I know he could see the worry in my eyes. "Some crazy guy is trying to bust in Marks front door. I can't just leave him there to deal with it himself."

"Wait.. what are you going to do?" He follows me closely down the stairs.

I turn over my shoulder to look at him. "I don't know yet, Nick."

"Is he going to call the cops on this guy?" He questions me.

"He said he doesn't call the cops."

"Oh, fucking great. So, it's just going to be the two of you and this apparent, crazy guy?"

"Yep." I say, flatly.

"Have you seen him, do you even know him, is he big?" He keeps interrogating as I make my way to the front door.

"He's pretty big and yeah, I know him. He's one of our kids dad and he's pretty nasty from what I can tell."
