*We all sit around the table eating the pizza and salad that Mark had ordered. Nick actually, took a slice of pizza, making me look like a lair in front of Mark, but I was also pretty sure it was because, he was just trying to seem like a normal human being in front of him. So, I wasn't too upset.
When we get close to finishing dinner. I ask Nick, in front of Mark still at the table. "Do you want to spend the night?"
—But before Nick could answer, Mark says. "I don't think we need any overnight visitors here."
We both turn to survey him. And he wasn't joking. He was serious..
"Well, you can come spend the night with me?" Nick rebutdtaled, looking directly at me and away from Mark.
"No. I don't think so, she has work tomorrow." Mark says, flatly.
Mark was being strangely aggressive towards Nick.
"Uh, she's a grown adult. You can't really tell her what to do." Nick says back in an attempt to regain control.
I was completely shocked.
"Nick!" I breath at him.
"—And I'll have her back in plenty of time before work starts tomorrow morning." He adds. "Trust me."
Mark completely stops what he's doing, and becomes still. Staring straight at Nick. He sucks his teeth. "Look, here's the thing, Bosa. I know you as a football player. And well damn, you are a great, football player. I just.. don't really know you as a man, ya know? And some things I've been hearing, are not really things you want to hear about a guy, when he's been dating your daughter. Can you understand that?"
Nick nods, in agreement.
"Like, what?" I snort.
"Liliana, it's fine." Nick says, looking back towards me, like he knew I didn't want to know that answer, but I did..
"No." I say, outwardly. "Tell me... like what?" I stare at Mark from across the table.
"You don't want to know, the things I know, honey." Mark replies, his eyes softening every time they'd come back to me.
"Tell me. Now." I was about to erupt. God, could things get any worse for me right now?
He swallowed and pauses, but he eventually came out with it..
"Well, you, him, his brother. You all have some sort of weird relationship going on. I don't know any man that shares his partner with his own blood brother." Mark finally, says. "—But it doesn't seem right at all to me. In fact— it's sickening and I don't want my daughter to be apart of whatever that is..."
My blood starts to boil. Joey, I bet this was him. Yapping in Marks ear with this bullshit.
"I never intentionally, shared your daughter with anyone." Nick was fast to speak up first.
My stomach revolted. "Oh, my fucking god." I scoot out from the table. "None of that is fucking true. That's not what really, happened." I exhale angrily.
