Pouring.
It was fucking pouring outside.
The roads were flooded, lightning lit up the sky, and we weren't sure if the power was going to go out.
All on Wooyoung's birthday.
Luckily, San and Felix were already here since they spent the night, but that doesn't change the fact that our planned surprise is down the drain.
"Hyunjinnie!" Felix smiled, but immediately jumped at the sound of thunder outside. "We should bake Wooyoung a cake!"
"Us? We'd burn the house down."
"That's your problem, I'm a professional baker."
"Is that so?" My voice strained a little as I pulled him onto my chest.
"Every time you do this, it makes me tired." His voice was soft as he spoke. I planted a kiss at the top of his head and ran my fingers through his hair. "I think I'm gonna dye it again."
"What?" The brokenness in my voice was evident.
"I've been blonde for like a year, Jinnie." He laughed, placing a small kiss on my neck. "Am I supposed to be blonde forever?"
"Yes."
"I think you'll like it."
"I'll like anything you do, but I'll still mourn the loss."
"You're so dramatic sometimes." He lifted his head off my chest and kissed both my cheeks. "Come on, let's see if there's stuff here to make a cake."
"There is." I nodded. "Mom was gonna make one."
"Mom?" Felix stuck out his bottom lip and stared affectionately.
I sighed, feeling as if I had been caught. "I don't call her that to her face, that would be weird. I just slip sometimes."
"I think it's cute." He beamed. We went into the empty kitchen and rummaged around for ingredients. Truthfully, I'm not entirely sure what we'll need but baker Felix over here seems to know what he's doing. "Babe, can you get the butter?" I stared at him in shock with wide eyes. "What?" He pouted.
"Say it again." I wrapped my arms around him from behind and rocked us back and forth.
"Say what again?"
"What do you need me to get?"
"Butter?" He seemed absolutely clueless. "Oh my god!" I guess he didn't realize he switched to English, meaning his Australian accent was on full display. "It's a habit, I'm sorry."
"So cute." I turned him around and peppered his face with kisses. "I'll get the butter." I teased by doing my best Aussie accent.
After our extensive search, everything was on the table.
"Should this be chocolate or vanilla?"
"He's a chocolate guy." I confirmed. I found the cocoa powder Felix then requested in the pantry. He seemed to be taking this very seriously judging by the look on his face. He handed me the dry ingredients and told me to take care of those. I was slightly nervous I'd mess it up, but he seemed to have faith in me.
Ms. Jung came into the kitchen and jumped in surprise. Once she noticed what we were doing, her heart melted, admiring the sight.
"I figured we'd make it so you don't have to." I smiled, mixing what was in the bowl.
"You two are too much. He doesn't know, does he?" Felix and I both shook our heads. "I just went to check on them, Woo's pretty bummed out."
"What are they doing?"
