Yoongi's POV
They were sitting opposite each other at the kitchen island, his mom with a cup of tea and Yoongi with a glass of water. He really did have a bad headache.
“Yoongi-ya…” Began his mother, “I really am sorry, I never meant to hurt you.”
“You didn't hurt me, eomma,” Yoongi clarified, “you hurt y/n and that's what hurt me. Nothing anyone does or says about me could hurt me more than that.”
She nodded her head, “I guess…I'm just trying to understand…you broke up with Adora all of a sudden and then you went down a spiral that no one could get you out of, but then you refused to get back with her. And now you're head over heels for some stranger. I just want to understand.”
“Mom, if this whole conversation will revolve around Adora then I don't want to have it. Okay? I just…wait,” something clicked in Yoongi's head, something that didn't make sense in what his mom had just said. “What do you mean I refused to get back together with her?”
His mom looked at him with a look of utter confusion, like she honestly didn't understand what Yoongi was saying and he was just as confused.
“She begged you not to leave her and you refused.”
“What? Eomma…where is this coming from?” The piercing on his temples was growing with each second.
“On the day that you began your service, Adora called me, crying. She said she had begged you not to leave her, that she didn't mind that you were going into service because you'd still be coming home each night. She was devastated and then she was told she was being moved to the American label and she was leaving Korea. The poor girl didn't know what she did wrong. Every time she visited after that, it broke my heart. She loves you.”
Yoongi's blood ran cold. Just exactly how calculating and manipulative could that woman be? She had managed to rope in his mom in her lies, deceive Namjoon and threaten to end his career with baseless accusations. What did she want from him? Fame? Money? Or did she just enjoy making other people miserable? She was evil incarnate.
“Eomma…” Yoongi sighed and put his head on his hands. He truly wanted nothing more than to go to his room and try to sleep. The last thing he wanted was to go through everything Adora did to him again and to have to explain it to his mother. But would she ever open her eyes if he didn't? He was going away on tour soon and that was probably going to be one of the last times he had to talk to her alone. With a deep breath, he settled further into the kitchen chair and braced himself. “That's not what happened… at all.”
“Then what happened? Help me understand.”
“It's not a pretty story…” Yoongi dived into the whole thing, from Adora flirting with Namjoon up to how he wrote her entire album and how she threatened to press sexual harassment charges against him. His mother was quiet throughout the Whole thing.
By the time Yoongi finished, he was exhausted.
His mom looked horrified but was saying nothing. After a few minutes, she reached for his hand and when Yoongi looked into her eyes, they were furious.
“I can't believe that little bitch fooled me like that! She made me believe that you had broken her heart and that in a vengeful fit, you had convinced the company to send her away. I can't believe she made me doubt you.”
Yoongi wanted to tell her that it was okay, that she was not to blame, but he couldn't. The fact was that his parents had never really believed in him and the only one who had openly supported him all along was his brother, so he wasn't surprised that his mom had been easily swayed to think the worst of him.
