Charizard lands in Area Zero, not too far from Briar. The researcher guides the five of them through Area Zero. As Briar speaks passionately on Paradox Pokemon, Liko, Roy and Dot are left in awe at the crater's sheer atmosphere and beauty. Stunning Tera Crystals and shimmering waterfalls galore, feeling as if they;ve stepped into a new world. Though Ash just wants to see what Pokemon live here.
"Ash, don't you think this place is beautiful?" Liko asked as Friede and Briar talked.
"Yeah, but I really wanna see what Pokemon live down here!" Ash said excitedly, Pikachu matching his mood.
"Hey, I think I see one? What is that?" Roy suddenly says, poitning to a Pokemon looking similar to a Dunsparce.
"Is that a, longer Dunsparce?" Dot asked, confused by the mysterious Pokemong slugging around.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Ash asked, scanning it with his Rotom Phone.
Rotom powered on, searching the database for intel, "Dudunsparce, the Land Snake Pokémon, a Normal Type and the evolved form of Dunsparce. It drives enemies out of its nest by sucking in enough air to fill its long, narrow lungs, then releasing the air in an intense blast."
"Oh, Dunsparce can evolve, cool!" Roy mused, though Ash didn't respond. His eyes firm on Dudunsparce, getting a sense of deja vu, remembering his days in Unova and Kalos. The times he tried to catch a Dunsparce, but failed.
Ash readies a Poke Ball, not accepting failure this time. "YOU'RE MINE!" He declares, throwing the Poke Ball, direct hit. The ball shakes once, twice, thrice, and then clicks shut.
"Dudunsparce's data has been added to your Pokedex!" Rotom delcared emotionlessly. Making Ash throw his hands up in the air, as does Pikachu.
"YES!" Ash shouted, he and Pikachu celebrating their new capture. Confusing the rest of the group.
"Why are you so excited by a Dudunsparce?" Dot asked, making them stop their celebration, slightly embarrassed.
"It's a long story," Ash started, rubbing the back of his head, "I'll tell you guys later."
The group don't realize that Sidian and Coral are spying from afar, but they don't notice Jessie and James spying on them, waiting for the perfect time to strike and humiliate the Explorers. Coral plays around with some Tera Crystals, throwing small pebbles at them to see what sounds they make. Leaving Sidian annoyed by her antics, suddenly her experiments create a loud booming noise, catching the attention of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
"What was that?" Briar asked, looking up.
"Maybe it was a Paradox Pokemon..." Friede mused, exciting Ash and Roy.
That's when the young boys notice a smaller figure spying on them. Far from the two groups spying from above, Ash and Roy quickly depart from the others to check it out. Coming face to face with a strange looking Maneton, with black hair adorning its top screw and the ends of its magnets. With two longer magnets acting as legs.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Roy asked this time, scanning with his own Rotom Phone.
"No data available" was all his Rotom said.
The boys stare at the new Pokemon, confused. Assuming that it indeed the Paradox Pokemon they heard. They don't have time to dwell on that thought, as the Pokemon suddenly charges at them. Sending them running further away from the others, tailing them at every turn.
Coral follows closely behind while Team Rocket stick with watching Sidian from afar. Coral eventully loses track of the boys as they run deeper into Area Zero, going on her own adventure.
"I'm tired of this!" Roy declared after running for what felt like hours, "Croclor, Flame Charge!"
Croclor lands a direct hit, but the Pokemon easily shakes it off. Confusing the boys.
"Alright then, my turn! Thunderbolt!" Ash commands, Pikachu attacks with sheer force, but it does nothing, surprising the boys.
"That must mean it's a Ground Type!" Ash delcared, him and Roy preparing for a Pokemon battle.
Cetoddle pops out of its Poke Ball, wanting to get into some long overdue battle action. "You wanna battle, bud?" Ash asked, and Cetoddle nodded, jumping excitedly. Pikachu nods, agreeing to sit out of this fight, Cetoddle steps forward alongside Crocalor. The duo attack with a combination of Ice Shard and Flamethrower. The Pokemon easily takes the Flamthrower, but is caught off by the Ice Shard, knocking it down. The Pokemon looks up to the trainers, bowing in respect.
"Wow, you were pretty strong," Roy commented as The Pokemon struggled to get back on its magnet feet.
"Yeah, I hope we can battle again!" Ash commented, waving at the Pokemon before he and Roy run off to reunite with the others.
The boys eventually stumble upon a cavern, finding Briar, Liko, Dot and Friede inside. The group look up the boys, a mix of cunfusion and worry adorn their faces.
"Where have you two been?" Dot asked.
"Oh, we fought a Magneton with hair!" Roy exclaimed.
"Yeah! And it had legs too!" Ash added on.
Liko and Dot look at the bys as if they;ve gone mad, though Briar quickly flips through her Scarlet Book to help prove the boys right.
"Oh, you mean a Sandy Shocks!" Briar eventually said, showing the kids the page.
"Oh yeah! That's exactly what we fought!" Roy commented.
The Group light a fire thanks to Charizard, Tauros and Crocalor. The group cook their dinner and eat up. By nightfall, Roy is fast asleep, snoring loudly. Liko and Friede also quietly snoozing. Suddenly, a loud screm echos through Area Zero, startling the remaing awake members of the group.
"What the heck was that?!" Dot asked, looking toward Briar and Ash.
"That, was a Scream Tail.." Briar yawned, showing the two kids the page of her Scarlet Book again before falling asleep. Dot groans and tries to sleep as well, though Ash stares at the page in horror, remembering his own experinces with a certain Jigglypuff. He falls asleep quickly, dreaming to never meet a Scream Tail.
