What If Ash was in Pokemon Horizons?

Crazy Feels! This Is a Pokémon Contest, Dearie!!

Ash, Liko, Ult and Navi watch as Roy and Dot battle alongside their Paldean partners. Meowscarada perks up in interest as the Water-type attacks clashes with the Fire-type attacks. She eventually blasts a Flower Trick towards Skeledirge and Quaquaval as they exchange attacks, creating a visual spectacle that stuns the trainers in awe.

"Woah, that was awesome!" Roy beamed, "That's something Hassel would do!"

"I think a move like that needs a name." Dot decided, "I'll call it the Feels Special!"

"What does feels mean?" Ult asked.

"Kinda reminds me of the stuff I saw in Pokemon Contests." Ash reminisced, making the others perk up.

"Oh yeah, what are those Contest things anyway?" Ult asked, "I know some of your friends did that stuff."

"Trainers had their Pokemon perform like that impress the judges." Ash explained, "Then they'd go against other Coordinators in a battle."

"Wait, they battled?!" Ult suddenly seemed interested.

Ash chuckled, "Not the usual battles, you still had to impress the judges by making your Pokemon look cool. Any Pokemon that took damage from an attack made that Coordinator lose points. Whoever had the most points left once time was up one the battle. The Coordinator who won the whole thing got a ribbon."

"There's one happening tomorrow!" Navi exclaimed in excitement, waving her Rotom Phone in the air.

Ash looked at the ad on Navi's screen. "Hey, she's right. There's a local Pokemon Contest happening tomorrow. But it doesn't look official."

"What does that mean?" Dot asked.

"Looks like trainers are just performing with their Pokemon." Ash read through the ad, "And they aren't giving away any ribbons."

"But, Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval belong to different trainers." Roy said.

"Yeah, you've got a point." Ash agreed, "Guess two of you have to loan your Pokemon to someone. We just gotta figure out who."

"Rock, paper, scissors?" Liko suggested.

"Deal." Roy and Dot nodded.

The three trainers placed their hands in the middle. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" Roy and Dot both drew rock while Liko drew paper. "Looks like Liko's entering the contest tomorrow." Ash declared, though Skeledirge and Quaquaval suddenly tense up. "We should get training now so you'll be ready for tomorrow!"

Liko stands in the center of the wing deck as the Paldean Starters stand before her. "Alright Quaquaval, use Wave Crash in the air!"

Quaquaval shoots Liko a look of confusion before striking Skeledirge with the attack, making the Fire-Ghost type angry. Ash rubbed his chin, "I guess Skeledirge and Quaquaval need help getting used to Pokemon Contests, and how to obey another trainer." Ash pulled out three Poke Balls and sent out Sceptile, Floatzel and his own Quaquaval.

"How are those gonna help?" Dot asked.

"I was in a couple Contests too." Ash explained his Pokemon began to coach the others. "Sceptile and Floatzel are the Pokemon I used. And your Quaquaval is friends with mine."

Meowscarada looked on in boredom as Dot's Quaquaval and Skeledirge undergo coaching and eventually perfect obeying Liko's orders while utilizing spectacle over attack. She begins to play with Ditto and they spin around.

"Now Meowscarada use Magical Leaf!" Liko commanded. The Pokemon in question unleashed the move while spinning with Ditto, causing it to interfere with the Water and Fire type moves and all three dissipate instead of creating the spectacle from before.
