What If Ash was in Pokemon Horizons?

Riding the Waves

The Rising Volt Tacklers soaked in the sun. They maybe a pitstop at a nearby beach, everyone was having fun surfing on the waves of the ocean. They see a golden surfer riding the waves and gaining the attention of many bystanders. The surfer didn't look human, most likely a wild Pokemon.

"Woah, who's that Pokemon?" Ash scanned the surfer with his Rotom Phone.

"Gholdengo, the Coin Entity Pokémon and the evolved form of Gimmighoul. A Steel and Ghost type. Its body seems to be made up of 1,000 coins. Gholdengo gets along well with others and is quick to make friends with anybody."

Ash was about to go up to the Gholdengo, only to hear Roy's voice behind him. "C'mon Dot! It's the perfect day for surfing!"

Ash looked back to see Liko, Roy and Uruto surronding Dot, who was laying on a beach chair.

"What's going on?" Ash asked.

"Dot doesn't wanna do anything!" Roy complained, "She just wants to sit in the shade."

What? Why?" Ash asked, "It's so nice out today! Don't you wanna feel the waves, or let the water cool you down?"

"Not really," Dot shurgged. "I'm just not into that kinda stuff."

Uruto suddenly tapped Roy's shoulder in a rapid fashion. "What is it, Uruto?" Roy asked, annoyed.

Uruto pointed towards an area closer to the waters. A Gimmighoul stared at the Gholdengo with admiration. The group quickly realized that it was the same Gimmighoul that had tricked them before.

Ash noticed how scared the others seemed, "You guys go on ahead. Pikachu and I will stay here with Dot so she doesn't get lonely."

"Pika?!" Pikachu looked at his trainer in betrayal.

The other three quickly rushed off, not wanting to be hypnotized by Gimmighoul again. "So, why'd you stay?" Dot asked.

"You deserve to have fun too!" Ash replied, "Anything can be fun when you're with a friend!"

"Thanks." Dot smiled, before something shiny caught her eye, she lunged into a nearby bush and pulled out a Gimmighoul coin. "Alright, found another one!" Dot exclaimed uncharacteristically.

Ash picked up another coin from the ground. "I found one too!" He exclaimed.

Pikachu hops off Ash's shoulder and digs up another coin. "Pika! Pika!"

Gimmighoul simply watched the three of them, smirking.

By the afternoon, Ash and Dot arrive at Gimmighoul with their arms full of coins. They dump them into the chest, snapping them out of the trance.

"Darn it, that Gimmighoul got me again!" Dot groaned.

"Woah, so that's how being in the trance feels like, freaky." Ash commented.

Dot then saw Gimmighoul once again staring off at Gholdengo. "Hey Ash, didn't the Rotom Phone say that Gholdengo's body is made up of 1,000 coins?"

"Yeah, why?" Ash answered.

"Maybe, Gimmighoul is making us collect coins, so it can evolve." Dot suggested.

"Oh, yeah, maybe the little guy just wants to grow stronger." Ash replied.

Dot then saw Quaxwell looking out to the sea longingly, seeaing Liko, Roy and Uruto having fun. "Hey, Quaxwell, you wanna go out there?"

"He's a water Pokemon, but he stayed here for you." Ash commented densely.

Dot looked at Quaxwell with realization, she walks over and grabs a nearby surfboard, "Well, then let's hit some waves."

"You're heading into the water? Awesome!" Ash grabbed another surfboard and pulls out a Lure Ball, "We'll join you!" Ash pops open the Lure Ball and reveals a Totodile.

The two trainers smile as Quaxwell and Totodile easy introduce themsleves and get along easily. The trainers get on their respective boards. They begin riding the waves as Liko, Roy and Uruto watch and cheer them on, Liko and Roy cheer at least. Dot quickly sees that Gimmighoul had stowed away on her board. That startles Dot enough for the board to veer slightly off-course, causing Gimmighoul to fall into the water.

"No!" Dot shouted, sudden compassion for Gimmighoul shining through. She dives into the water and pulls out the large chest and places it back onto her board. "You're okay, I gotcha." Gimmighoul smiles up at the girl gratefully.

By nightfall, the RVT are packing up their beach gear. Dot sees Gimmighoul watcing as Gholdengo surfs off into the sunset, out of sight. Dot approches the little Pokemon.

"Hey, little guy. You really wanna be like Gholdengo, don't you?" She asked, "That's why you always trick people into finding coins for you."

Gimmighoul nodded, seeming to be ashamed of itself.

"Well, you don't have to trick people anymore, I'll collect coins for you whever you want." She pulls out a Poke Ball, and Gimmighoul hits the center button, capturing itself.

Dot's friends cheered. "Congrats, Dot!" Liko exclaimed.

"But, doesn't that mean Gimmighoul can just trick you whenever it wants?" Uruto asked, and Roy firmly elbowed him.
