It was cold and raining but I knew I needed to. "Just keep running!" I said to myself over and over again. I didn't know who came into our house but my mom told me to run and to not stop no matter what. I could hear my older brother Mason yelling for me to run as I ran down the stairs and out the back door. It was so dark that I wasn't sure which way I ran, if I ran the way my father had told me was to our closest neighbors or not. But I kept running. I was growing tired and wanted to stop but every sound I heard had me running faster than before. I know I was at least 3 miles from my house and heading in the right direction when I heard the water for the creek that divided our land from theirs. I tripped right into the water. I quickly stood up and started to climb out but I kept falling back into the water.

"I know you are out here, little brat! I will find and kill you!" I heard him say, making me hurry out of the water

"I know you are out here, little brat! I will find and kill you!" I heard him say, making me hurry out of the water. I screamed when I saw someone running toward the creek. I took off running again. I only ran for a few 100 feet when I bumped into something making me fall backwards. I screamed when I saw a man standing above me.

"Are you ok?" He asked as I tried to back away from him. "Wow, wow...I'm not going to hurt you. You are safe with me!" He said as I heard the one that was chasing me.

"She belongs to me! Hand her over now!" He said, making me scream and crawl over to the man I ran into. Right now I trust him more than anything. In a blink of an eye there were three other people standing next to the man that I was now hiding behind. I held on to his jacket as I shivered from being all wet and cold.
