7. Intentions Of Prime Minister Mansion

Next day Maya left for her maiden home. It was an hour journey from the royal palace towards the Prime Minister's mansion. Prime Minister's wife Sannati was waiting at the door with her sevikas for her daughter. When the carriage pulled at the gate Sannati smiled as she led the sevikas and welcomed Maya greatly.

"Maa" Maya hugged her mother.

"It has been days since I last saw you. Now that you are here I am glad" Sannati said and walked with Maya inside the mansion. They sat in the meeting hall and Sannati asked the sevikas to prepare tea and snacks for them.

"How are you doing in the palace?"

Maya sighed, "there's no improvement. Samrat is still so reluctant to see us. It has been 2 years since I have entered the palace but there's not a day that he visited. Even if he entered ShtriMahal, he would just meet the Rajkunwari then leave" there was a displeasure playing on her face, "I have been tolerating this for such a long time. But now that he brought a woman from somewhere and suddenly claimed her as his Samragyi I couldn't sit well anymore. We have been living in the ShtriMahal for a long time but he never cared yet brought a woman out of nowhere and gave such a high position like it wasn't important"

Sannati's face become disgusted, "your father and I were also talking about it. Samrat bringing a woman was a great shock. We have been hoping him to choose you as his official wife and make you Samragyi. Of course your father is also loyal to the court and serving him greatly. But every efforts went in vain. I couldn't understand what did he saw in that new girl? Have you met her already?"

Maya nodded, "yes, that new girl has an imposing air around her" while saying this Maya started to frown, "and she has only four sevikas serving her. I couldn't see any other rajsevikas in her room. And also there was a cat like pet with her, a little bigger than normal cats"

"What did you say? Samragyi has a pet?" Sannati frowned. "According to her position her Mahal should be bustling with sevikas. This is how a Samragyi present herself yet you said she only has four sevikas? What a joke!" Her face twisted.

"Whatever it is I asked for a leave from palace with an excuse of your birthday so I wanted to be with you. That new girl is too doubtful, now that she has the seal in her hand, all the power went to her smoothly and she is incharge of the whole ShtriMahal"

"Rajkunwari handed the seal to her?" Sannati suddenly got angry, "how can she gave the seal so easily? That girl has just arrived 2 days ago and got everything without putting any efforts. And here you were tolerating all the humiliation inside the palace from the last 2 years. This is such a shame that Samrat couldn't differentiate between gold and coal" Sannati couldn't help but feel her heart was aching for her daughter. Her daughter was the most beautiful one in the capital. And she knew if Samrat just look at her closely he would see the reality.

"Maa, don't get angry. Today I am here for some important matter. Has baba returned from the court?" Maya asked.

"Don't worry, your father knows that you will be coming. He will be retiring soon. You just came and you need to relax first" Sannati replied. The sevikas brought tea and snacks on the table. "Drink some tea to refresh your mind"

Maya nodded and grabbed the tea cup before testing it. Today she came to ask her father about some information. That Samragyi position was her and all this year's it was okay from her side when the seat was empty. But now that someone just occupied it, she couldn't help but feel angry. She was the daughter of reputed Prime Minister, she was the one who deserves that seat not someone who's identity is unknown. She couldn't let anyone snatch her position.

Before lunch Birbhrat returned home. Maya and Sannati was talking when he entered. Seeing his daughter after months Birbhrat felt good. He walked to them with a smile.
