"Nandini lost her parents even before she could understand the meaning. Kunwari Samaira was generous and always kind lady during her time. She never scolded her sevikas and always treated them equally. She has such a soft side of feminity. It's not a wonder she fell in love with am ordinary man like Narshim. Their story was the most tragic one in the history of Rajmair royalty. Maharaj Yonsh would never want his daughter to marry an ordinary man" Kaushal said then picked up the wine glass before taking a sip. "Though he tried hard to stop them but at the end he couldn't. Kunwari Samaira was really a clever woman. She escaped the cage and eloped with Narshim against her father's will then end up giving birth to Nandini. I believe she had dreamt of raising her daughter but destiny didn't gave her such chance" then he paused.
Manik listened carefully. Though he already heard the half of the story but the explanation is different. He don't want to interfere in the story but to listen carefully.
"When I was holding the newly born girl, my people brought the news that Narshim was killed on his way back home. That unfortunate man didn't even had the chance to see his daughter for the last time. Kunwari Samaira died infront of my eyes leaving her daughter crying. I could still remember the longing in her eyes at her last moment. She wanted to live with her daughter but her time was short. Whenever I think of that painful teary eyes my heart clenches" Kaushal started again. "If I say, Maharaj Yonsh was quite cruel towards his own daughter. He even declared that he never had a daughter, discarding all the remaining ties with her. The birth of Nandini was a mystery that they never knew" he shook his head.
"But the Rajmair is destroyed years ago" Manik said.
"Yes, it was like an unexpected calamity. Rajkunwar Ayodh was just crowded as Yuvraj when the calamity fell on them. Everyone thought that after Maharaj Yonsh, Yuvraj Ayodh would success his father and maintain the glory of Rajmair. But before he could even sit on the throne everything got destroyed" Kaushal nodded.
"Yuvraj Ayodh was also talented man. He took few more years to strengthen his achievements first as a yuvraj to secure his position in the court and prove his ability. But I wasn't updated much of the matters of court since I have taken my early retirement from the post. That time was hard and I couldn't let Nandini grew up under the nose of Maharaj Yonsh. There were many secret informers who would discover the new born child any moment. I had to take her out for safety. This is why I moved away from the capital and settled here. Maharaj Yonsh was quite persistent and wouldn't wanted to let me go at first. But fortunately my excuses are valid enough to convince him without getting suspected. Later the date of coronation was also fixed yet a week before the ceremony everything changed. The fire caught the whole palace and grasped everyone in there. No one was found alive" Kaushal frowned at his own words. He wasn't fully aware of the situation since he left the capital with his family.
"The reason was never described" Manik said slowly, "till now no one knew how Rajmair was destroyed in such a tragic way. That time I was young and couldn't even understand much of this matter. Later this matter never discussed again so I gradually forgot about it too"
"It was fate, whatever happened mean to happen at the end. You are the Samrat and Nandini is kind of different. As per royal tradition your bride should be someone who has official royal honour" Kaushal looked at Manik. "If I don't know Nandini better I would have doubted the rush wedding without anyone's knowledge" his words seems more like a threat and also a kind of accusations.
Manik looked at Kaushal and observed his reaction more. Even though he wasn't Nandini's father, but he was someone who raised her, the one who gave a new life. He couldn't disrespect him, "I want to apologise again for the rush decision. I am aware it might affected many desire. At that time I wasn't thoughtful about my words and rushed everything. But I can guarantee that that will be the only mistake"
