38. Him Being Shameless

The alluring smell spread in the air as the smoke raised higher and higher. Nandini sat beside the fire as she roasted the three pieces of meat. The meat pieces were hanged in the small bamboo stick as she rolled the stick to roast the meat properly. Purana has already mixed all the spices and she sprinkled black power over the meat which created more scent. Nandini's eyes glowed and she grabbed a knife and cut the small piece of meat.

"This looks delicious" she mumbled and tasted the half of the meat. The flavour melted in her mouth. She couldn't help but moaned exploring the taste. "Needed a little more roasting in the fire then it's perfect. Add chilli powder, when it's spicy it taste best" she smiled.

Purna sprinkled chilly powder on the meat. Isha looked at Nandini and grinned, "did you like the meat Prizzi?I have hunted the most healthy fatty one"

"You did a good job, it's delicious" Nandini nodded as she eyed the roasting. She was about to eat the remaining piece of meat in her hand when someone said from her behind.

"What are you eating?"

Nandini jumped in surprise and even Purna and Isha were startled by the sudden appearance of the person. She turned her head to look at the man who almost scared her to death.

"Samrat you scared me" she hissed.

"I will be honoured if I can really scare you" he mocked. "So what are you eating?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

Nandini rolled her eyes, "it's a—" she looked at the little piece of meat in her hand then threw him a smile, "why don't you taste it yourself?" Before he could say anything she shoved the piece of meat in his mouth.

Manik frowned yet chewed the meat. He really liked the taste. "I didn't know my Samragyi has such good taste in meat"

Nandini smiled, "Samrat since you liked it, can you tell me which animal is it?" Her eyes were holding the challenge.

Manik smirked, "A rabbit?"

Nandini clenched her jaw. How can he be so accurate? She almost thought he couldn't tell but he poured water in her victory. He guessed it right.

Manik knew he was right because of her expression. He saw her cutting another piece from the roasting with her knife. He decided to tease her again.

"What happened? Why are you not answering. I am right, isn't it?" He leaned towards her.

"Why are you asking if you know it already?" She frowned.

"Well that—" before he could finish another piece entered his mouth making him stop.

She smiled, "Samrat why don't you taste it well?you seemed to like it"

He smirked at her and stopped his teasing as he enjoyed the flavour.

On the other side, Sulohita ordered the sevikas to serve the dinner. Chandra also took initiative to engage in work. Trived and Devayu also joined them.

"If the cooking done?" Devayu asked.

"Yes, I was telling them to serve the dinner" Sulohita nodded, "Rajkunwari Chandra also helped us a lot"

"What are you saying Rajrani, I have just advised some items" Chandra blushed a little.

"Where is Manik and Nandini? Why aren't they here?" Devayu frowned. "Aren't they having meal with us?"

"I have seen Samragyi on the other side" Chandra immediately pointed to the place a little far from them. Everyone turned towards it and saw fire was lit up while few people surrounded it.
