The room fell in scary silence. Only the breathings could be heard. The chess pieces were spread on the board where few moves were already done. Chandra looked at the pieces and smiled before placing her pawn eating another piece of Nandini.
She looked up, "does Samragyi needs a break?" She asked. Her eyes hold the look of provoking, "if you want we can rest for a while" she was saying like she was giving a chance to retreat and accept the lose earlier.
"Are you tired?" Nandini asked.
"No, I always love playing chess. I am just worried about Samragyi" Chandra replied. For a second her eyes glanced towards Manik who was sitting quietly. This is her chance. She gave to saw this man that the woman he chose as his Samragyi is not eligible for such status.
"Then let's play it properly Rajkunwari"
Chandra turned to look at Nandini then to the game board. Half of Nandini's pieces are eaten by her but the other person looked still relaxed. She thought for a while and used a different strategy to capture the remaining pawns. She picked her bishop and placed it on certain point.
"Samragyi, you seemed like you aren't very well aware of the chess strategy"
Nandini smiled, "I only know few moves. But it looked like you are an expert in this field. If I made any mistakes please don't laugh at me"
"How could I dare to laugh?" Chandra shook her head, "it's just a wonder that the Samragyi of Gangghor is not good in playing chess"
"Everyone couldn't be perfect in everything. It's just an absurd idea to think of" Nandini picked up a piece and placed it on the board, "besides each people posses their own telent which is unshakeable and even unbeatable"
Chandra nodded, "yes, what Samragyi said is right" her eyes glanced down on the board and smiled. She flicked the chess piece Nandini placed with her, "oops, looks like Samragyi placed it wrongly"
"It may be" Nandini nodded at her action.
After a while most of Nandini's pieces are gone leaving a king, Queen, a rook and two other pawns. Chandra couldn't help but felt satisfied. The winning is closer. She thought in her mind.
"Samragyi, the game is almost over"
"Nothing can be decided when there are still chance Rajkunwari. Place your piece"
Chandra gritted her teeth. Why she is so arrogant? I have already captured most of her pieces. Only few ones were left on her side yet she still thinks she can win over me?
"As you say" Chandra placed her piece.
"Ah, I guess my queen is kind of strong" Nandini looked surprised and placed her queen and started to capture Chandra's pieces one by one.
Chandra glared at the board. Her Queen will end my game. She thought and made another strategy. She placed her pawns and surrounded the queen. She placed her one pawn in one square diagonal from the queen and used other pawns to distract. When Nandini made a move, Chandra immediately captured the queen.
"Samragyi your queen is not that powerful" Chandra smiled. "May be you should try another time after making it powerful enough to beat me" the words were simple but the meaning is different.
Nandini looked at her black queen captured by Chandra. Chandra looked happy as she stared at the game board. On the other hand Manik narrowed his eyes on the board then raised an eyebrow revealing a smile while Purna who was watching the game secretly rolled her eyes.
"Does Rajkunwari think the game is finished?"
Chandra smiled, "Samragyi your queen is dead, it's almost finished"
