Shizuk?na POV:

I know who he is, I know what he represents.

A figure shrouded in darkness that always stands at the corner of my eye.

He's never looking anywhere but right at me.

I know this, despite being unable to see his face.

Every time I looked towards him, he would phase away, shifting to another corner of my vision.

I first noticed him yesterday, and while he hasn't become more prevalent, it's clear he isn't going away either.

I've been getting adequate rest, and I'm only taking on a minimal amount of work right now.

It can't be because of stress, or because I'm overworking myself. I'm even in a good mood because some of my friends have already taken time out of their mornings to visit me. Horikita did, Koenji, and even Kiryuin.

I ruled out the possibility of my food or medication being delivered with any presents after going through the cameras myself.

That leaves one thing, this shadowy figure is the result of my mistake.

He's the thing that slipped through the crack that had momentarily opened.

A figment of my imagination, formed from my obscured knowledge of my own past.

I'm not going to bother bringing this up either.

The last thing I need right now is for the medical staff to know that I'm seeing hallucinations.

So long as it sticks just to the form, it's manageable.

All I need to do is ignore it.

But how can I?

It's staring at me, I can feel it.

He's staring at me.

Looking, watching, observing.

But for what purpose?

It's making my skin crawl.

Once again I'm feeling pressure alike to a spotlight effect, it's unnerving.

How am I supposed to think with such a creature constantly watching me?

I turned my eyes towards where it was at the corner of my vision.

Just as expected, it disappeared, reappearing once more at another corner.

I know it's my fault, but is it really necessary to fly around like a mosquito, hanging onto my shoulder?

I sighed, leaning back into the bed.

I discovered something nice this morning.

When Horikita was in to wish me a happy birthday, she had also told me about how Ayanokoji invited her to go somewhere.

Though she doesn't know where.

We talked a bit before about the outings the two of them go on, and I hinted at some things that could help Horikita learn more about Ayanokoji.

For example, one small thing I noticed was that he tends to look up when he's bored, what she did with that information was up to her.

Considering the fact that she's yet to ask me about his interests or anything like that, I'd say that she's, at the very least, able to keep him there.

I smiled to myself.

Then again, based on what she described to me about yesterday, something tells me that Horikita is the one.
