I stood outside Elara's door, a heavy weight pressing on my heart. Ever since the tragic passing of Steven, Elara had withdrawn into the depths of her sorrow, cocooned within the walls of her room. Steven, not only a loyal friend but also Elara's steadfast bodyguard, had chosen to overlook his legal aspirations in favor of protecting the precious bond they shared.

While contemplating whether to knock once more or retreat in defeat, my mama appeared, her gentle presence offering silent support.

"She still hasn't responded?" Mama inquired softly, glancing at me, who could only offer a solemn shake of my head.

Kasi naman, nag-aalala na ako sa pinsan ko eh.

"Mama, she hasn't eaten yet." nung isang araw nga pinaghanda siya ni Mama nung favorite food niya pero hindi niya kinain.

Mama reached into her purse and retrieved her card holder, the glint of a hopeful idea sparking in my eyes. Oo nga pala!

Elara adores shopping, lalo na kung unli shopping diyan kami magkasundo. Perhaps, a trip to the mall could ease some of her burden.

"Ipapasama ko kayo kay Jo—"

Before Mama's words could fully form, Elara's door creaked open, revealing her figure bathed in a faint smile. Sabi na nga ba eh, shopping lang magpapalabas sa kanya.

"Let's go, Anya!" Elara's voice, though soft, but I can sense a little bit of excitement.

Mama's head shook in quiet affirmation, recognizing that sometimes, amidst the shattering pain of loss, solace could be found in the simplest of gestures.

"As I said, ipapasama ko kayo Kay John. Hindi kayo pwede mag libot sa mall na kayong dalawa lang and be back at 4 pm. Understood?" Mama handed me the cards at napangiti ako ng bongga.

Don't get me wrong ah, hindi kami spoiled brat. May sarili kaming pera ni Elara, pero kapag bigay mismo ni Mama sino ba ang hihindi?

And hello? Who says no to unli shopping?

"Thank you Mama!"
"Thank you po Titaaa!" niyakap namin ni Elara si Mama bago kami nag decide na mag bihis and then go to the mall after.

Ipasara ko kaya ang mall para saming dalawa ni Elara? Hahahahaha

"Love, bakit mahal mo ako?"

"Walang sapat na rason love."

"Hihihi ang sweet mo talaga."

Nakasandal ako ngayon sa puno at nasa likuran ko ngayon ay ang mag jowang naghaharutan. Okay na sana kasi nasa likod ko hindi sa harap but damn, rinig na rinig ko landian nilang dalawa.

"Nagugutom na ako love"

"Ano gusto mong kainin?"

"Ikaw hihihi"

Kinasa ko ang baril ko pero natigilan din ako dahil kailangan kong kontrolin ang inis ko. Damnit! Hindi ako bitter pero nakakainis kasi makarinig ng harutan, public display of affection!
