TW~Surgery

Y/N's POV

I woke up with a scratchy, sore throat that seemed to have gotten worse overnight. I groaned and reached for my phone on the nightstand, dialing Jake's number, and after around 2 rings, he picked up.

"Hey babe, my throat feels terrible. Can we go to the doctor today?"

I could hear the concern in Jake's voice as he replied."Of course, I'll come pick you up in an hour."

True to his word, Jake arrived right on time, wrapping me in a warm hug as soon as he saw me. "My poor baby," he cooed, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead before leading me out to his car.

At the doctor's office, I explained my symptoms to the nurse, who took my temperature and blood pressure before ushering us into an examination room. The doctor came in soon after, asking me a series of questions and quickly determining that I had tonsillitis.

"We'll need to remove your tonsils," he said matter-of-factly. "I'll schedule the surgery for three days from now."

My heart sank at the thought of surgery, but Jake squeezed my hand reassuringly "I'll stay with you, I promise, love."

Time Skip

Three days later, we arrived at the hospital bright and early. I was nervous, but Jake's presence calmed me as we checked in and waited for my name to be called.

My knee was bouncing rapidly, a habit I had whenever I was nervous. Jake saw this and put his hand on my knee, holding my own hand ontop of my knee, stopping it from bouncing anymore. When it was finally my turn, Jake squeezed my hand tightly and whispered, "I love you, everything will be okay."

As they administered the anesthesia through the IV in my hand, I felt my eyelids growing heavy. The last thing I remember before drifting off to sleep was Jake stroking my hair and whispering sweet nothings to me.

When I woke up, my throat felt like it was on fire. I winced as I blinked blearily up at Jake, who was sitting beside me in the recovery room with a concerned look on his face.

"Hey love, how are you feeling?" he asked softly, reaching out to brush a strand of hair away from my face.

"My throat hurts," I croaked out, wincing as I tried to swallow. Jake looked at me with a face full of sympathy and concern.

"The surgery went well," Jake said, his voice filled with relief. "You did great, babe. And now you don't have to deal with tonsils anymore."

I managed a weak smile, grateful for Jake's comforting presence as I slowly came to terms with my new reality. I was discharged a few hours later, but Jake insisted on staying by my side the entire time, helping me settle in at home and making sure I stayed comfortable.

As the days passed, my throat slowly healed, and I started to feel like my old self again. Jake took care of me, bringing me soup and tea, and constantly checking in to see how I was feeling. I couldn't have asked for a better partner to support me through this tough time.
