Y/N's POV

I trudged down the sidewalk, lost in my own thoughts as I walked home from work. It was one of those days where everything seemed to be going wrong, and I just wanted to get home, crawl into bed, and forget about the world. As I turned the corner onto my street, I noticed a familiar figure approaching me. My heart sank as I realized it was Matt Sturniolo, my enemy.

Ugh, why did he have to appear now? I knew he hated me, and I had no idea why. We had been enemies for years, with him constantly calling me names and making my life miserable. I tried to avoid him as much as possible, but it seemed like we always kept running into each other.

Thing is though, I've had the biggest crush on Matt for years, even though I knew I would never have a chance with him.

As he drew closer, I could see the look of disdain on his face, and I knew he was going to say something cruel. I prepared myself for the worst, but instead of his usual insults, he grabbed my arm and stopped me.

"Hey, can we talk?" he asked, his tone serious.

I rolled my eyes and tried to shake off his grasp. "First of all, don't grab me. Second of all, no, we can't. You're always mean to me, Matt. Why bother trying to talk?"

He looked at me with a mixture of frustration and desperation. "Because I need to tell you something. Something important."

I raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Matt took a deep breath before speaking. "The reason I've been so mean to you over the years... it's because I've been hiding my feelings for you."

I stopped dead in my tracks, stunned. "What? You've been trying to hide your feelings for me by being cruel to me?"

Matt nodded. "Yeah, I know it sounds ridiculous now, but I was scared of getting hurt. And when you got back together with that guy after we stopped being friends... I thought I was too late."

I felt a surge of emotions: surprise, curiosity, and a hint of excitement. "You're in love with me?"

Matt's face softened, and he looked at me with genuine sincerity. "Yes, I've been in love with you for years. But I didn't know how to deal with it, so I pushed you away, and I'm so sorry for the endless torture I've put you through."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Matt Sturniolo, the guy who had made my life miserable for years, was actually in love with me?

As we stood there on the side if thr lonely and empty road, something shifted between us. The tension dissipated, and I saw a glimmer of vulnerability in Matt's eyes.

I took a deep breath and let out a slow exhale. "You know what? I hate to admit it but...I've had a crush on you for years too."

Matt's eyes lit up with surprise and hope. "Really?"

I nodded. "Yeah. But I didn't think you felt the same way."

Matt wrapped his arm around my shoulder and walked me the rest of the way home in silence. We didn't need to talk; we just needed to be together.

As we reached my front door, Matt turned to me and asked, "Would you like to go out on a date with me next Friday?"

My heart skipped a beat as I smiled up at him. "Yes, I'd love to."

Matt grinned, relief washing over his face. "Great. I'll pick you up at 7."

And with that, our enemies turned lovers story began.
