Y/N's POV

The Bowers House was definitely living up to its reputation as one of the most haunted places in town. Sam, Colby, Seth, Josh, and I had been filming all day and we had captured some incredible evidence of paranormal activity. As the sun began to set, we decided to sit at a table and try to do a seance to see if we could communicate with any spirits in the house.

I sat next to Colby, my hand intertwined with his as we all held onto each other. The circle started with Colby on my right, Seth next to him, followed by Josh, then Sam and then me. As the seance began, I immediately felt a heavy weight on my chest, making it hard to breathe. And then, something grabbed my throat with an intense force, causing me to involuntarily squeeze Sam and Colby's hands tightly.

"Hey, baby, you okay?" Colby asked as they all looked at me with concern, but I nodded my head and motioned for them to continue.

But as the seance progressed, the feeling of something grabbing my throat kept happening, each time more intense than the last. I could see the worry in Colby's eyes as he watched me, his grip on my hand tightening with each occurrence. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and I spoke up.

"Colby, s-somethings not right, I feel like I can't b-breathe." I spoke, my voice fractured by the lack of oxygen. Sam looked at Josh and Seth to tell them that we need to wrap things up, so they started asking more personal questions to the entities.

"Why are you hurting Y/N? Is she familiar? Do you recognise her?" Seth asked around the room, as I felt a scratch on my neck, causing me to tighten my grip on Sam and Colby's hands.

"I think we need to stop now," Colby said. "There's something here that's not friendly." We all disconnected hands. As the weight was finally lifted from my chest, and the oxygen could finally return.

Colby immediately pulled down the hood from my jacket to look at my neck and his eyes widened at the sight of the red marks and bruises that had formed around it. He gently traced his fingers over the marks, his expression a mix of anger and concern.

"We need to get out of here," he said firmly, standing up and pulling me to my feet. "This is too dangerous."

We all agreed that we had gathered enough footage and evidence for the day, so Sam and Colby did their video outro before we said goodbye to Seth and Josh.

"Be safe guys, tell us when you get back safe." Josh said as he hugged me before joining Seth at their car, whilst we nodded.

The drive back to the hotel was quiet, the tension in the car palpable as we processed what had just happened. My mind flooded with thoughts about what spirit could've recognised me from today's events, however, no dots could connect, which made me drop the subject as a whole.

Once we were back in the hotel room, Sam went into the bathroom, as Colby immediately took me into his arms, holding me tightly as he whispered reassurances in my ear. I buried my face in his chest, grateful for his presence and his comfort.

"I'm so sorry, baby," he murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of my head. "I should have never let you go through that."

I shook my head, looking up at him with tear-filled eyes. "It's not your fault, Colby. We all knew the risks of investigating the paranormal. I just...I didn't expect it to be so intense."

He nodded, his hand moving to cup my cheek. "I promise, we won't ever put you in that situation again. Your safety is the most important thing to me."

I smiled weakly, leaning into his touch. "I know, Colby. And I trust you to always protect me."

As Sam returned, we put are equipment away, and then we spent the rest of the evening cuddled up in bed, watching cheesy movies and laughing at each other's jokes.
