Y/N's POV
As I watched Colby lift Lainey up to put the star on top of the Christmas tree, my heart swelled with love for my little family. The twinkling lights reflected in his eyes as he grinned down at our 3 year old daughter, his perfect smile melting my heart all over again.
"Good job, princess," he murmured, setting her down gently on the ground before wrapping his arms around me, with a big smile on his face. "I love you so much, Y/N."
"I love you too, Colby," I whispered, leaning back into his embrace as we stood there admiring our handiwork. Lainey ran off to grab a snowglobe, her tiny feet pitter-pattering on the hardwood floors as she excitedly placed it on the mantel.
"Mama, look!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with wonder as she watched the snow swirl around inside the glass globe. I smiled at her, feeling a warm sense of contentment wash over me as I took in the sight of her enjoying the holiday decorations.
After we had finished decorating the house, Colby suggested we take some photos to capture the memories. We set a timer on our camera as we quickly got into place. We lined up in front of the Christmas tree, Lainey in between us, her little hand clutching a candy cane as she grinned up at the camera. Colby wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me close as we smiled for the picture, our hearts overflowing with joy.
Later that afternoon, we decided to bake gingerbread cookies and make gingerbread houses. Lainey sat on Colby's lap as he helped her decorate the gingerbread house, her little fingers covered in icing as she carefully placed sprinkles on the roof.
"Dada, look!" Lainey yelled, as she put a candy cane tree next to the house.
"Good job, princess," Colby praised, pressing a kiss to her forehead before looking up at me with a grin. "She's a natural at this, just like her mama."
I blushed at his words, feeling my heart flutter at the love and adoration in his gaze. I leaned in to press a kiss to his lips, my heart swelling with love for this man who had given me the world.
As we finished up our gingerbread creations, there was a knock at the door. Lainey squealed in excitement, running to open it and reveal Sam standing on the other side.
"Uncle Sam!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around his legs.
"Hey guys, hey Lainey, look how tall your getting, you're nearly as tall as me!" Sam exclaimed, even though she was only level with legs.
Sam cane over to greet us, before Lainey grabbed his hand, pulling him into the kitchen to show off her gingerbread house.
Colby wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder as we watched Lainey chatter excitedly to Sam about her masterpiece.
"She's something else, isn't she?" Colby murmured, pressing a kiss to my temple as we stood there, admiring our daughter and the love that filled our home.
"She's perfect, just like her daddy," I replied, turning in his embrace to press a soft kiss to his lips. "I love you, Colby."
"I love you too, baby girl," he whispered, his eyes filled with love and adoration as he pulled me close, our little family standing together in the warm glow of the Christmas lights, our hearts full of love and happiness.
