Y/N's POV

I still can't believe it's been a week since we rescued Lainey from my ex. I'm so grateful to have Colby by my side, and to have Sam, our best friend, who has been a huge help in making this new chapter easier for all of us. As we're making lunch in the kitchen, I can hear Lainey giggling and having fun with Sam in the living room.

"Y/N, come check out what we're doing!" Sam calls out, holding up one of Lainey's drawings.

I smile and walk over to join them, Colby following close behind. "Oh, Lainey, you're such an amazing artist!" I exclaim, taking a seat next to them.

"Mama! Look!" She says, holding up another picture of scribbles.

Colby snuggles up beside me, his arm wrapping around my shoulders. "Yeah, she's a little genius," he says, grinning at Lainey.

We head back into the kitchen, plating up lunch as Colby wraps his arms around my waist, resting his head on my shoulder.

"Can you take Sam and Lainey's plate, and I'll take ours?" I asked, Colby nodding in response as grab the plates, heading back into the living room.

But then, I hear a loud shout from Lainey: "Dada!"

My heart skips a beat as I look over at Colby. He's staring at Lainey with a mix of surprise and joy on his face. "Oh, Lainey... you're calling for me?" he asks, his voice full of wonder.

"Yeah! Dada!" She exclaims again lifting her hands up to Colby.

I feel a pang of emotions inside me. I've always wanted Colby to take on the role of Lainey's dad, but I didn't want to put that kind of responsibility on him. He's been amazing so far, but this is a whole new level.

Colby sets the plates down and walks over to Lainey, scooping her up in his arms. He starts spinning her around, and she squeals with delight. "Ahh! Dada!"

I'm stunned. I've never seen Colby like this before. He's always been the jokester, the prankster, but now he's completely in dad mode. He obviously still has the immature side of him, but I can see the care in his eyes when he looks at Lainey.

I get up and grab my phone, snapping pictures and videos of this special moment. Sam joins in, capturing every laugh and giggle from Lainey.

Colby puts her down and tickles her belly, making her laugh even harder. "Dada, stop!" she demands, laughing and squirming out of Colby's arms. I'm so grateful to have this moment with my daughter and my boyfriend. It's like everything is falling into place.

As we continue to make lunch, I turn to Colby and whisper, "You're really doing it, aren't you? You're becoming Lainey's dad."

He looks at me with a sheepish grin. "Guilty as charged," he says. "I couldn't help it. She's just so sweet and adorable."

I smile back at him. "You're amazing, Colby. And I'm so glad we're doing this together."

Sam chimes in, "Yeah, you guys are the best parents ever!" I laugh as Lainey eats her lunch. "You're the best uncle Sam." I say, then being interrupted by Lainey. "Uncle Sammy for the win!" She shouts, making all of us burst out laughing.
