TW~Being deaf and hospitals.

Y/N's POV

I'm still in shock as I sit in the hospital room, holding Sam's hand as he takes my rucksack and helps me out of the hospital. It's been just seven hours since I had surgery to put cochelar implants in my head, and now I can hear. I'm still getting used to the sounds, but Sam is beaming with excitement as we make our way towards the car.

"I can't wait to see how the boys react. They're gonna be shocked!" Sam said as I laughed. I wonder what their voices actually sounded like.

We walk out of the hospital but then I stop for a moment to take it all in. The cars driving by, the birds chirping, people laughing... it's like a completely different world. I feel a few tears prick at the corners of my eyes as I look up at Sam, and he gives me a gentle hug.

"Y/N? Angel?," he says, using his favorite nickname for me. "You're doing amazing. I'm so proud of you. It's cool right?"

I nod, feeling a little overwhelmed but also exhilarated. We get into the car, and Sam puts on some music. I'm shocked at how good it sounds - the clear notes and rhythms are like nothing I've ever experienced before.

"This is one of our songs." Sam says before putting on their song 'Wah Wah Wah' even though it was pretty corny, I loved it and Sam told who was who. He also told me that Corey wasn't British it was just an accent he put on.

As we drive home, I can't help but dance a bit in my seat, Sam laughs and sings his part of the song, making me burst out laughing. We then chat about surprising our friends with my new hearing aids, and how we're going to show them off.

When we get home, Colby, Jake, Aaron, and Corey are all hanging out in the living room. They don't realize that I've gotten hearing aids yet, so they're all signing and communicating in their usual way to me. I smile and sign back to them, feeling a little awkward but also excited to share my news.

"So Sam, what did you two get up to today, you guys were gone for like 10 hours!" Colby says, as I hide my smirk, listening to their conversation.

But before Sam can answer their questions about what we've been up to today, I interrupt him. I take a deep breath. "I had surgery today," I say. "To get cochlear implants."

The room falls silent. They all look at me with shock and amazement etched on their faces. Then, suddenly, they're all cheering and giving me hugs.

"You can hear us? That's crazy!" Aaron says, giving me a high five.

"Wow, Y/N!" Jake exclaims, beaming with pride. "That's incredible!"

We all sit down on the couch, and I show them the hearing aids and how they work.

Colby leans forward, fascinated by the tiny devices. "Whoa, they're so cool!" he says.

Jake whispers something to Aaron, who nods enthusiastically. "I know right?" Aaron says.

Corey looks at me with wide eyes. "You're gonna hear everything from now on?" he asks.

I nod, feeling a little emotional again. "Yeah," I say. "I'm going to hear everything."
