TW~Cold caps and cancer.
Y/N's POV
I woke up to the sound of Colby's soft breathing beside me, his arms wrapped securely around me. Gently running my fingers through his hair, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness knowing that soon, his hair might be gone. The thought of him losing something as precious as his hair was almost unbearable to me.
"Hey, baby," I whispered, kissing his forehead to wake him up. Colby stirred, his eyes fluttering open as he met my gaze.
"Morning, gorgeous," he mumbled, his voice husky with sleep. I smiled softly before reminding him about the cold cap we needed to put on him today.
Colby's face fell slightly at the mention of the cold cap, a necessary evil in his battle against cancer. But he nodded, accepting the reality of the situation. We got up and headed downstairs, where Sam was already setting up the equipment for the cold cap treatment.
I sat beside Colby as Sam reminded me of what I needed to do, showing me how to secure the cold cap on his head. It was a complicated process, but with the trainer's guidance, me and Sam were able to learn quickly. I couldn't imagine going through this alone.
As we placed the cold cap on Colby's head, I held his hand tightly, wanting him to know that I was there for him every step of the way. The cold cap started to work its magic, chilling his scalp in an effort to save his hair from the harsh effects of chemotherapy. I could see Colby shiver slightly from the cold, so I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him close as we sat on the sofa together.
"I'm cold baby." Colby whined as he continued to shiver. I went to get a blanket to cover him with, but he wouldn't let me move.
"Colby, baby, let me get you a blanket." I said, as he grumbled, and shook his head. "Sam, could you possibly throw me a blanket?" I asked as Sam nodded and threw a fluffy blanket in my direction whilst I thanked him, and covered Colby up, which caused him to snuggle into me more, making me and Sam laugh with relief to see that Colby was calm.
We stayed like that for a while, just holding each other and taking comfort in each other's presence, whilst talking with Sam about upcoming videos. But soon, it was time to change the cold cap. With Sam's help, we carefully removed the old straps and replaced it with fresh ones. Colby winced slightly as the cold cap was placed back on his head, but he didn't complain. He was so strong, facing this battle head-on with courage and grace.
Throughout the process, Sam and I gave Colby all the support and encouragement we could muster. We reminded him how brave he was, how much we loved him, and how proud we were of him for fighting so bravely. I could see the determination in his eyes, the strength in his posture, and it filled me with admiration and love for this incredible man.
I leaned in close, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips as a silent reassurance of my love for him. "You're doing so well, baby," I whispered, my voice filled with emotion. "I'm so proud of you."
Colby's eyes met mine, and I could see the love shining in them. He squeezed my hand, giving me a small smile before turning to Sam, thanking him, as Sam hugged him. We all watched TV for a while, until Colby's cold capping was done. I took Colby up to bed and he fell asleep to me rubbing his back and kissing his temple.
