TW~Missing child and mentions of a panic attack.

Y/N's POV

I never thought a simple trip to the mall would turn into a nightmare like this. My heart was racing as I looked around frantically for Cairo, my little ray of sunshine. I felt like I was going to be sick as I realized he wasn't by my side anymore.

"Josh, I can't see Cairo!" I exclaimed, panic rising in my voice.

Our 5 year old son, Cairo, let go of my hand to point out a new toy, but when I looked over at him to see what toy he wanted, he completely vanished.

Josh's eyes widened as he too scanned the area for our son. "Let's split up and look for him. He couldn't have gone too far," he said quickly, taking my hand as we then spilt up, starting to search every corner of the shopping center for our missing child.

We must have looked like a pair of mad people, calling out Cairo's name and dodging through the crowds. I felt tears pricking my eyes as worry ate away at me. This wasn't how our day was supposed to go. We were supposed to get Cairo some presents for his birthday and go out for a meal together, not lose him in a crowded mall.

After what felt like an eternity, we decided to seek help from the staff and security. I described Cairo's appearance in as much detail as I could manage through my frazzled mind. The employees promised to keep an eye out for him, and I thanked them before continuing our search.

I clung to Josh's hand like a lifeline, my heart in my throat as we combed through store after store. Each passing second felt like a year, each step bringing us closer to the possibility of losing our precious son forever.

Just as I was on the verge of a full-blown panic attack, a security guard approached us, Cairo held securely in his arms. Relief flooded through me, and I let out a sob of pure gratitude as I reached for my little boy.

"Thank you, thank you so much," I babbled, tears streaming down my face as I clutched Cairo to my chest.

"You had us so worried little man!" Josh said as he rubbed Cairo's back, who looked shocked and almost dazed from the past events that had just occured.

Josh wrapped his arms around us both, a mixture of relief and anger evident in his eyes. "I don't ever want to go through that again," he whispered fiercely, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

We decided to call it a day after that, the fear of what could have happened still lingering heavily in the air. Cairo snuggled into Josh's chest, his little face peaceful in sleep, and I felt a surge of love and protectiveness wash over me.

As we made our way back home, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled in my stomach. The thought of losing Cairo, even for a moment, was a pain I never wanted to experience again.

"Hey, darling," Josh murmured, squeezing my hand tightly. "We found him. He's safe and sound. That's all that matters."

I looked up at him, the love and gratitude in my heart overflowing. "I know. I just... I can't bear the thought of something happening to him. He's our whole world," I whispered, my voice breaking with emotion.

Josh pulled me into his side, his warmth and strength grounding me in reality. "I know, Y/N. But he's with us now, and he's okay. We'll watch over him and protect him, always."
